If the Jets think this guy is a Bust then it makes perfect sense.... This way either A) someone traded up to the Jets spot or B) He's gone before they pick... Otherwise all the Jets fans would go nuts if they happen to like Mckelvin better and - The place would go insane if Mcfadden is on the board and the announcer goes "and with the 6th pick the Jets pick CORNERBACK....... Leo" A lot of fans are like Mad Dog - They all hear about Mcfadden and they think he's the next Greatest thing without hearing any of the negatives... Fact is he just might not be a workhorse all around back that deserves the pick and the money - He might be "ALL" Speed - and a few NFL hits can knock that down real quickly.
Well, if you don't want it known that you're all over this guy, then you barely talk to him and you don't parade him in public.
I agree with jetblue on this one, this interest in Mcfadden that the Jets are showing seems incredibly out of character for this Jets team who tries to keep everything under wraps including a season ending injury to Vilma that would have no impact on the Jets to release it to the fans. especially since the teams who would have traded for him, would obviously have found out before trading for him anyways... This interest seems so fake to me for some reason. Also am I the only one who thinks that our interest in at least one of Gholston/Mcfadden is fake? we are letting so much out there, that it would be unsurprising to me to see the Jets trade out of #6 the day before the draft with the Panthers who are trying to move up for Ryan/Ellis and it's all but a garuntee one of the 2 will be on the board.
I don't agree, I think the Jets do have genuine interest but it's possible Mcfadden will be gone before our pick anyway. I don't buy all this smoke screen talk. Vilma, DeWayne Robertson both were expected to be gone and it leaked that they'd be gone. I think the Jets are doing some homework, analyzing the draft prospects. I don't think it's a smokescreen at all.
The problem with that is, this close to the draft it doesn't help that much to smokescreen when you have the number one pick and no one wants to trade up.
we need a major overhaul on offense, our back-up rb is our playmaker and our so called do it all guy is a #3 wr. hope mangini and tanny were not going out on the town.
The amount of attention the Jets have publicly focussed on McFadden in the last week or two makes him very unlikely to be the person they are really looking at. Look at the guys you have not heard connected to the Jets recently who might go top 6 and you have the likely suspects. That means Gholston, Clady, Ryan or even Rodgers-Cromartie are probably the people they are looking at hard if a Long does not drop in their lap.
its not about trading up, they'll take the player who agrees to the cheapest contract. If Gholston or C. Long says, "i'll take 5 mill less than J. Long" then they will be the #1 overall.
