No one interested in talking about the Yankees now?

Giambi got one into the seats.

Wang is struggling a bit early.

Posada is back behind the plate.

ARod is home with Cynthia as they celebrate the birth of their second daughter.

    A-Rod padding his stats, again.

One child proves you can do it. Two is just showing off.

The pen sucks. While Joba is a must for the rotation, he's the only guy not reserved for the ninth who is consistent there.

When are we going to finally say enough is enough with Giambi?

You know, after Giambi I was going to complain about Ensberg too, and Damon as well.

    Guess not.

Well, you take what you can get from the pen I guess. At least we walked out with the win.

They were discussing what might have to be done with Gonzalez when Betemit comes off the DL. My opinion is that Gonzalez should stay. The argument is Betemit's bat vs. Gonzalez's glove. With the lineup we have, I think the defensive advantage will be more important over the course of the season. How often do we actually pinch hit for anyone? And is Betemit a better hitting option than any of the starters?

Girardi seems to rest one starter every day. Apparently that is his philosophy which means you always have a PH on the bench too. I don't know how long he can continue to do that though.

I think that can be done most of the time. Of course, against say Boston, you want your top lineup as often as possible, but against almost every other team, you can afford for one guy to be out of this lineup.

As I've said before, I'll always take a better defensive player as a fill in on this team over a guy who can hit but is a defensive liability. I'll take Gonzalez over Betemit as a utility man. I'm not a big fan of Ensberg either.

    My current dump list:

Damon (though right now there's nothing to replace him with. Is anyone in the minors ready?)
    Giambi (get Duncan back already.)
    Betemit (give me Gonzalez.)
Ensberg (who can we replace him with?)

Of course, none of these guys is going anywhere right now. Doesn't hurt to wish though.

At least one Rodriguez can deliver in the clutch:grin:

It was nice to see the Yanks O pick up the slack w/ their best hitter out. Damon has had 2 good games back to back, hopefully that trend continues and Giambi had a HR. It would be nice if these 2 guys got it going a little bit. We'll likely need the bats agin tonight w/ Mussina on the mound- make that the next 3 games w/ Mussin and the rookies.

In his 85th career start, Wang became the quickest major leaguer to record 50 victories as a starter since Dwight Gooden got No. 50 in his 82nd start for the Mets on June 29, 1986, against the Cubs. Wang is also the fastest Yankees starter to 50 victories since Ron Guidry got there in his 82nd start in 1979 against Texas.

He's not perfect as we all know but he is certainly consistent.

Has he said that? I assumed it was more a function of the schedule right now than anything else. And that once the team starts seeing regular off days, it wouldn't be as necessary. Either that, or it's just getting everyone ABs, since we kind of have an "extra" starter between Damon and Matsui, with the effect compounded by all the minor injuries and suspensions.
