....I remeber Bradway did it to get S. Moss (because he panicked)....last year they traded up for both top picks (they did turn out well), .....but here they did it again for a non-blocking TE......those 3rds & 4ths usually turn into very good and productive depth....
Oh yeah ..rickyjet..I'm sure in their 3rd draft they had a panic attack and choose Keller..I'm sure they didn't research the guy throughly and feel he was the correct pick..seroiusly Eric and Mike have done a very good job over all in the draft the past two years and made some great moves in FA's this spring..Give them the benifit of the doubt!!
Tangini does not understand how the draft works and they definitely do not understand how to accumulate critical mass and win. We piss away draft picks like they were water. That is a strategy that in the long and illustrious history of the NFL has not only never worked but has usually lead to collapse.
...I also am a long-time Jet fan from CT....I truely want to give them the benefit of the doubt.....but if you study the draft...(because it is a crap shoot) having more picks clearly gives teams who stockpile them a better chance in coming away with gems and depth....
No he just knows what he wants and he gets his guy. He has proven himself to be a a excellent drafter and I love the 2 picks.
What this probably means is that Baker is going to be released since he is complaining about his contract anyway. We can free up some cap space and now we have a 100x better version of baker who is younger and faster with Bubba Franks doing the blocking duties like he was signed to do. I feel this is a great pick for the jets and will pay off.
4th round picks are meant to be pissed away. Trading up worked out great last year and I have faith in Tannenbaum that this Keller guy is gonna be great too.
And how many 4th round picks been nothing? Same could be said for 1st round picks. If the jets feel Keller is a big time tight end you gotta do everything you can to move up.
You aren't taking into account their strategy, Bradway sucks. I think you should really take a look at what they are trying to achieve here. It's pretty interesting, in my view. Draft picks don't arrive ready to deliver what's on their resume. They are picked for a purpose, be it intelligent or half-baked. This particular pick of Keller has a pretty sound plan behind it, it seems to me. I think it is worth taking a deep breath (I certainly didn't expect it) and seeing how the plan unfolds and what happens. Judging these moves a priori is a bit feckless in my view.
I would be a lot happier if we got a 6th rounder back. A LOT happier. Luckily, we already have a few picks next year. I doubt we'll get a pick for Robertson, but if we do, it will really add a lot to our draft.
I'm not in love with Chris Baker..Everyone talks about him being under utilized..because he can't get F**kin open vs LB's..thats why and his blocking is fair at best..Give me Keller at 250 with 4.48 speed 1 on 1 vs any LB..lets see if old ass Brushi can run with Keller..F**k that, we have a threat running down the seam that people will have to game plan for...Hell Yeah!!!!!!!!

I'm starting to think that Tangini is heading a little off course of their original plan. More often than anyone, they are the ones saying "build through the draft." How can we do that when we are pissing away picks? This trading up business is very risky. Draft picks are hit/miss even when you stick to your slot in the order, much less give up other picks to move up. Not sure how I feel about this one. I dont know what it is about this organization's obsession with TEs --- J. Mitchell, K. Brady, A. Becht & not to mention dropping down from the 1st round a few years ago for D. Jolley.
How can anyone respect this front office. They think they are so damn smart but they blew a bunch of picks in their first draft. Schlegal, Eric Smith when no one else was even going to look at them before the sixth. Then they trade away their entire draft last year for two players (good players but no depth) now we give up a second and fourth for a TE that no one was going to look at before us (every mock had him going mid 2nd at best!) at a position we didn't even need that bad. The last thing we need is another TE who can't block, Jesus we need LB, CB, WR, G, Tackle. Essentially they are giving Chris Baker the finger and wasting draft picks to do it. I sense pissing match part two (ala Kendell). And we drafted a guy who can't block to replace him, and for more money than we would have probably had to pay baker (ala Faneca). Fantastic. I just can't respect a Front Office who has no respect for its players when they are not asking for a lot. I feel that the whole team is going to riot.
Could have been worse. The Pats have 1 out of 9 picks from the last draft still on the roster. I'd rather see them gamble a bit for a player they truly believe is worth while then stand pat and take players that they don't have highly rated.
The Pats allways trade down it seems and collect picks. Mangini likes to trade up like DaHerm but with much better success. My opinion is the Pats went to the well too often. Their luck has run out.
