Hah, the comment about her was just me being a smartass.

Anyway, like I said, it wasn't like Favre handed him 3 sacks that day. The guy was on the verge of a record, and a friend gave him the shot to get it. I didn't have a problem with it then, I don't now, and I never will.

He didn't need three, he only needed one. And by Favre doing what he did, it was a direct slap in the face of his linemen who did a great job of shutting Strahan down all game long, only to have it ruined by the Golden Boy Brett Favre. F*ck him and f*ck Strahan.

If you can't break a record legitimately then it doesn't deserve to be broken that day.

Exactly. Patrick Ewing was one John Starks miss from being an NBA champion, I've never heard anyone give him a pass for coming so close in the 14 years since that happened. In fact all people do is shit on him for it. You either accomplish something or you don't.

Actually my hatred of Strahan stems mainly from something that happened AFTER he broke the record. There was an interview done with Warren Sapp who made a comment about the record and how he felt there should be an asterisk next to it for how Strahan got it.

Strahan's response was so egotistical and arrogant it really pissed me off. Instead of just ignoring his comments because deep down he knew Favre gave him the record, he made a comment like the following:

"He's not even the best DT in the game, what makes him think he can talk about the best DE in the game". That's not an exact quote, but he was basically saying he was the best DE (by being handed a gift sack to break the record I might add) and that since Sapp wasn't the best DT he had no right to talk. He's such a POS it's not even funny.

Not to mention he was dumb enough to get caught cheating on his wife on the front cover of the Post on Mother's Day, then got angry at the Post after daring them to "put it on the front cover."

If you listen to Strahan interviews, you'll notice he takes a lot of pride in his ability to play the run. If there is any one singular aspect of his game that he would point to while titling himself "the best DE in football" it would be that and not the record, as your post makes it look like you believe. Also, Sapp and Strahan are friends and even did a double feature on the NFL Network for a while. I wouldn't read too much into anything they say to each other.

I agree that Favre gave him the record, but it's not like he goes around pointing to that season. In fact, he said he has great respect for MG because of his ability to consistently rack up a lot of sacks.

FriendlyGiantsFan, I have no effing respect for Mark Gastineau. He stole himself from the NYJs with his behavior, and got nothing for it - no woman, no career, a few drugs, a little prison, and well-earned ignominy.

Neither Strahan or MG ever held the record for sacks. The record isn't worth the paper its written on.
