He isn't that bad. As long as he doesn't make mental mistakes like stupid penalties, he's actually an asset on the field.
By bust do we mean not meeting expectations, or just being the worst player? On expectations, I fear that Coles is starting to show signs of his injuries catching up to him. On D, anybody who thinks Thomas is going to turn his game around is likely to be disappointed. But for who the weakest players will be, Chad if he starts, but since that probably won't happen I think the weakest position on O while not technically a starting one is third wideout. They may try to cover that up with double TE sets, but the weakness is still there, particularly if Coles no longer demands double coverage. On D if Barrett is not dispalced as a starter, the answer is obvious.
I think it's going to be Gholston then. People have very unrealistic expectations for him. Very unrealistic. If he doesn't have at least double digit sacks, people will be screaming he's a bust. There's one person on this site in particular that will say he's a bust even if he breaks the sack record, so I think he's set up to fail unfortunately.
I am cautiously optimistic about Damien Woody. I watched the NFL Replay of the Cowboys @ Lions the other day where Woody was at RT. He looked pretty good to me. The offense achieved 152 rushing yards and 1 sack allowed against one of the better defenses last year.
1. On Offense Chad Pennington if he Starts. If not Brad Smith or Kelller. 2. On defense I will have to say Calvin Pace. He reeks of Brian Thomas part 2!
Really? I think he's a great athlete and can be a good WR if he focuses on the position. I wouldn't want to see him as QB, nice they gave him a shot but that's not going to be his job here ever.
MY Jets Busts for 2008. ON Offense. Alan Faneca. NOw let me explain There is no doubt Jets did the right thing signing this player. When the running game dosen't materialze , alot of people are going to blame Faneca. That totally unfair as one man can't do it alone. Faneca pass blocking has been slipping for years now. DEfense J Miller/ Calvin Pace Can't decide which player going to crash and burn more. I don't consider D woody an option, because I don't think the expectations are as high for him as the others. Clavin Pace is not going to put the sack numbers you must get from your OLB in the 3-4. J Miller is just a great returner . HE sucked in college in coverage and a year off improved his coverage ability. BTW Remember this is just my opinion, so try to keep on topic- Jets busts for 2008.
Jets are doing Brad Smith a disservice. He should be working exclusively at WR. Learning his craft. Brad Smith could develope into a very good WR if they stop trying to make him the next slash. Leon Washington could do the gimmicks.
I think they are headed that way. For a while there they could force other teams to worry about preparing for Brad Smith doing different things, but I think other coaches now know what he can and can't do, so it's easier to defend. But given his speed and football smarts, he could emerge as a good WR. If nothing else he's great on special teams.
