lol... i hear you rico... and garcia may very well be an upgrade to CP/KC... there's just no Legend Factor, and it's wildly less exciting. But if cheaper and possible... I could get down with that.
We get your message: You want Favre here at any cost. No need for sarcastic replies in retort to someone's opinion.
I'm just messing around. I don't see comedy being disallowed anywhere on the rules page. God knows the Jets have been boring enough lately without our adhering to a standard of no color whatsoever. Also, I'm pretty sure it's inherent in the notion of a "forum" that "debate" be had. "Debate" is not the same thing as "everyone expresses their opinions and refuses to engage in meaningful discourse."
It's wild, but it does make sense. We don't need Favre, since we're running the ball anyway. We just need a vet with playoff experience who wouldn't lose an arm wrestling competition with a pre-teen girl.
I highly doubt Favre will be playing for the jets this year. Talks are just that, talks. I can see him going to the Bucks WAY before the jets. That said, I would love to see him in green and white lol.
Are you just randomly amalgamating expressions? Then again, I guess I shouldn't be discouraging attempts at humor, no matter how piss-poor they might be.
That's fine. He can go to the Bucs if they send us Garcia. Garcia would fit better anyway and would come much cheaper.
I'm against it. This scenario has been repeated over and over in the NFL, where some bottom feeder brings in an old future HOFer to "rescue" the franchise. It rarely if ever works. This Namath as a Ram, Unitas as a Charger, Esiason and Lott as a Jet, Simpson as a 49er etc. Favre is 38. 38!! How many successful 38 year old QBs are there??? Plus he would have learn a whole new offense. I think this is recipe for disaster. Favre will cost us $12 million, will struggle with the offense, bring a circus atmosphere to the Jets, and will likely get hurt (how long can that streak really go, plus he is on the cover of Madden). Are Jet fans that starved for attention? Do any of you really think that the Jets will overtake the Pats this year even with Favre? The Pats, absent an injury to Brady, are a 12-14 win team. Are the Jets going to better that? Contrary to what people are saying, this is NOT a win now team. Who is old? Coles? Ellis? Barton? Jones? Faneca has a good 5 years left. That is about it. Coles can be replaced. Ellis is ordinary as a 3-4 end. RBs can replaced in the draft - there is no learning curve for rookie RBs. Meanwhile, the heart of this team - Mangold, Ferguson, Cotchery, Washington, Jenkins, Harris, Reavis, Rhodes are all still entering their prime. Then you have Keller and Gholston. Favre would have been perfect in 1999. In 2008 he is all wrong. The Jets are going to be peaking as a team in 2-3 years. The OL will be mature and will gell and the defense is going to have 3-4 Pro Bowl players on it. And we will have no QB because Favre will have played two years, taking two years of time from Clemens and all ability to judge his ability to play in the NFL. Ainge will be an unknown. So when this team is really a win now team in 2010 and 2011, the Jets will have no QB when they really need one. It's not that I don't want the team to get better. It's the opposite. I want a Super Bowl. And a 40 year old QB who can't make up his mind if he wants to play year to year and looks with disdain on any young QB who might take his job in the future is not good for this team. If Favre were a ticket to the SB, why don't the Packers, who were one pass away last year, want him back? Think about it. Wouldn't Green Bay be the perfect spot for him? Aren't they a win now team? Why are they balking?
I wouldent want it but if it happens, I wont hate him and will root for the best. I am a Jets fan before a Favre non-supporter and would put pride behind for the best of the team I root for. 1. The madden curse.....sounds silly but I can just see this happening again. 2. Who the heck knows what shape he is in? Add that he needs to learn a COMPLETELY different playbook and its going to be wild 3. The media that will come forth, we have a young team(Some vets added yes but its a relatively young team), and who knows the effect it will have upon them 4. We are delaying what was suppose to be the future of NYJ in Clemens, our 2nd rounder 2 years ago. 5. Favre in the Packers 8-8 year 2 years back was a turnover machine. I see this Favre coming forth more so than the Favre of last season. I mean its not very GREAT reasons by any means but its a gut feeling that I dont think he works well here.
I'm not disputing the benefits of good healthy debate so I'm not even sure why the need for definition. I'm asking you to elevate your rhetoric while debating honestly. There's no need to bring in someone's "daughter's virtue" just as it would be inappropriate to bring up someone's mother. It's just not necessary, unless, of course, you're having a bad day and feel like trolling online for adolescent arguments and childish exchanges. If that's the case, I'm not your man. I'd rather talk about Brett Favre if that's okay with you.
Sorry to offend your sensibilities; I didn't realize we were discussing material with the gravity of a UN resolution. It's football. It's a sport, and most guys, when discussing it, make jokes.
Make jokes, but why not leave peoples' daughters and mothers out of it, okay? Are you for Brett Favre at any cost?
