Home > The Way We Hear It ~ ~ ~ NY Jets Aug. 7, 2008 Tight ends making big splash in Big Apple From Mark Chmura to Bubba Franks to Donald Lee, Brett Favre has made a habit of using his tight ends extensively in the offense. The way we hear it, he'll be doing much of same in New York as he did in Green Bay. In the early stages of camp, the Jets' tight ends have been among the most consistent players on the field. The most spectacular has been Dustin Keller, who has been deployed in numerous capacities throughout the formations. And while Keller stands as the biggest vertical threat, the Jets are four-deep regarding tight ends they'd feel comfortable trotting out. With WR depth appearing a bit shaky, we hear that offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer is concocting ways to showcase two tight ends on a regular basis. > http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW...It/default.htm
WR depth appearing shaky? I'll enjoy watching Clowney, and Stuckey shake all the way into the end zone! Coles, Cotch,Stuckey,Clowney,Smith(weakest link),Wright. I'd say we're pretty good.Add to that Keller, who i think will be used as a WR, also. I like our depth just fine. The problem we still have is Miller. He's not the answer at CB.
depends, if you get points for him as a WR, then ok, but Baker's the go to guy, at TE. just my opinion.
Until Clowney, Stuckey, Smith, or Wright prove they can play in an actual game, the 3rd receiver is a question mark. I like the guys we have, but none of them have proven they can be a major contributor yet besides practice. As for Keller in fantasy, if you can take him late and you have the extra bench space, go for it. Don't go thinking he's a top 10-15 tight end as a rookie though. Chances are, he won't be.
Probably Poteat..............Lowery seems to be a future Safety with Rhodes. I'm not sold on Eric Smith, solid ST player, average at best Safety.
Keller's Performance I disagree with many of you. I believe he WILL be in the top 3 TEs in the league when this season's through. There is no tight end in the leaugue that has the athleticism that Keller does. His hands are softer than my pillow, and he breaks tackles like pencils. Don't buy the whole, "Rookies don't do well". Keller isn't just some rook, and he'll show it.
Kellers gonna make a big impact especially with Favre at Quarterback , Baker as it seems he has stopped bitching will have a big impact and Favres ol school weapon , Bubba Franks. Coles and Cotch are 2 Real good Receivers and what ive seen so far from Clowney and Chansi im really feelin.
I like the enthusiasm, but Gates, Gonzales, and Winslow win outright. Even Shockey is someone who you have to put up against the unproven kid. By the end of the season he could be a top 8-12 guy, but top 3 is pushing it.
top three is definitely pushing it, especially since the top three currently, Gates, winslow and Gonzalez, are the focal points of their respective offenses and Dallas Clark and Jason Witten, probably the next tier, play for two of the best offenses in the league. I'd say BEST case scenario is 50/500/5, which puts him in the draftable category. If you want to get good value, draft him in the last round. Even if it doesn't pan out, you'll still be able to pick up a decent TE somewhere.
Not early, but in the later rounds. I'm starting a keeper league, later this month. If Keller is there in the later rounds, after the elite guys go, I'm going to pounce on him. I feel like he could easily get 8td receptions in a season.
