What's all the hysteria about? Favre will be fine.

Let's everyone just calm down about Favre. I mean, it seems like the "NY Media" (whatever that means) so famous for chewing players up and spitting them out, is overblowing some things since they have nothing Favre to talk about. The guy has played with internal bleeding, his thumb hanging off, a screwed up ankle, etc., and his coaches and the medical authorities let him. So his being a little late to training camp isn't going to ruin his season. He's also taken a lot of the off seasons off in the past several years due to deaths in his family and his wife's cancer. So, really, all this is being overblown to an insane degree. He's a self-deprecating guy, and he's not wanting to make any kind of promises or predictions in an atmosphere that's already a little over the top. Okay?

And let me stress this again for those of you who missed it. Even Peyton Manning cuts down on his reps. No need to wig out.

Exactly. This whole thing has blown over.

The guy hasn't thrown a serious pass since January. Come on, what were people expecting? He's gonna be fine, the man's a freak of nature. Once he get's back into football shape, he's gonna be the same Brett Favre.

If you're worrying about how he's going to develop a chemistry with his recievers and learn the playbook, that's a legitimate concern, I could see that, but this arm fatigue should be a non-issue. Once again, people should appreciate Brett's honesty and not freak out over something that's really not a big deal.

Yeah. Exactly. The point of the article (which was written a year and a half ago, 6 months before the start of last season), is that Favre does well when he works very hard during the offseason, and doesn't do well when he slacks off. Did you even read it? What has it got to do with anything we've been discussing this morning, except to support the point some of us have been making that you find so offensive?

You can't even READ! Why do I bother with you? In fact, just shove off and stop bugging me WHY DON'T YOU?

"Two years ago, Favre hired a personal trainer in the spring and went on one of those core-workout programs. Last year, his workouts weren't as regimented.

Clearing brush, repairing fences and mowing fields are forms of physical activity. Having someone push you through several hours of intense workouts regularly is quite another.

    . . .

Favre should attend more of the off-season program. He should be careful about not always going along with the coaches when they tell him to take days off during training camp."

Calling you an idiot isn't an insult, it's a FACT.

I can see there's some history between TeriB and Wild_Thing....as entertaining as it is to watch you two gouge eachother's eyes out...you should take this to the "Trashtalking Forum"...before one of the mods lays the smackdown on either of you.

    Just some friendly advice

Please tell me which side of the argument you're on so I know which direction to shoot. And before you call me an idiot again (which seems more and more like the only response you're bright enough to come up with), please keep in mind that when I asked you just one time to bring to the table some credible data regarding Favre's offseason conditioning program in 2007, all you could find was a year and a half-old article which (even if it did support your overall point) was written before that program even began. If you're too lazy to read your own articles, don't blame me.

Good advice. I've asked her to take this to PM instead of constantly insulting me, but she won't do it. Maybe she doesn't know how to use that feature.

You're right. I am honestly trying to ignore him. I do recall people calling each other worse that "idiot" here though, but I wouldn't want to cause him any lasting emotional damage, so I'll just let it go.[IMG]

You're new here, but that is how most Jets fans are. Overreact in one way or the other. Either every player is going to the HOF, or everything is the end of the world as we know it and cause for extreme panic.

It is exhausting to be honest. If you need an escape from the insanity there is always the bunker

    Favre Reportedly Skipping Packers' Minicamp
    May 15, 2007

"Favre is unable to practice after undergoing surgery earlier this offseason to have bone spurs removed from his left ankle, and he told the Biloxi Sun-Herald that he will remain at his home in Mississippi."

Agent: Favre changes mind, will attend minicamp
    Wednesday, May 16, 2007

"Brett Favre will attend the Green Bay Packers minincamp this weekend, after all, according to his agent. Not only will he report on Friday but he expects to participate in all practices, despite having ankle surgery this offseason."

Brett Favre's training camp struggles and more
    Jul 31, 2006

Anyone watching a couple days of Green Bay practices will tell you that quarterback Brett Favre hasn’t looked very sharp. One local reporter said he’s been completing about 53 percent of his throws in 7-on-7 drills and in team drills. He went one stretch on Wednesday where he completed only one of five passes, including one batted down at the line of scrimmage.

“Brett and the offense really isn’t in rhythm right now,” said first-year head coach Mike McCarthy. “We’re installing plays into our offense while the defense has been playing a lot of man coverage. What I mean is that we’re not running plays to beat what the defense is throwing at us and so they’ve looked better a lot of times. But it’s way too early to be jumping to any conclusions about Brett and the offense.”

    -------------------------------------

See, he isn't that far off other seasons, as far as training camp goes. A lot of veteran players don't do as much of training camp as rookies. No big.

Boy you hit the nail on the head. It's what makes Jet fans so interesting to rival fans like me, any Jet fan board I've gone to, it's always all or nothing with Jet fans, black or white, no shades of gray. Every Free Agent is the next greatest whatever or a steaming pile poo.

Hate to tell ya , but every errant pass , every interception , every mis-que that goes with a new quarter back (Regardless of years of experience and tenure) will be over blown and exaggerated to the point of lunacy. Its the New York Media we;'re talking about here! You not only have to please the fans , but the media as well. Favre will be fine.

Given that, does the "NY media" have any credibility with anyone?

Of course they have credibility, But any story in New york is over blown for dramatic effect. You have the one side saying " This is a great move" " New York hasn't had this kind of quarter back in years". Others say " This is a one year experiment and done" "It will be an unhappy ending". It all depends on what side of the coin your on. I think it will work out fine and I expect an over reaction to any Farve set backs or growing pains!

Sounds that way. Frankly, out here in the rest of the country, the Favre drum beat seems to have finally quieted down to a rational level. I mean, for a while ESPN and the NFL Network was All-Favre, All-the-time. It was just ridiculous. Now, it's a few minutes an hour, lol.

Anyway, Jets fans in NY may have to endure all this sensationalism. Luckily for the rest of us, it's not so bad.

Why would anyone be concerned with a 38 year old QB? He is just entering his "prime"
