I like the way Jesse C. runs the ball. Yeah, I know, it was garbage time in a preseason game, but the man runs hard every play. I think we should start thinking about thinking about playing Leon and Jesse over Leon and Thomas Jones, IF Thomas Jones doesn't start showing something. Nothing against Jones, but he doesn't make anyone miss, not does he pinball off guys like Chatman does. It's usually Thomas Jones and 2-3 yards every time. How many runs over 10 yards did Thomas Jones have last year, anybody know? Don't panic, people, it's just a thought. I don't anticipate it happening, barring injury.

The commentary crew mentioned that Chatman could spell LW once in a while, and with the looks of his want to get that extra yard and never give up, I'd let the bowling ball attack LBs whenever someone is tired.

Thomas Jones actually had 151 carries over 10 yards last season...

    That's obviously wrong.

Just think about it for a second. 151 carries by at least 10 yards each means 1510+ yards rushing last year. How could Jones do that since he only rushed for 1119 ?

Every other carry was for a loss of a yard. Duh.

he ran for 10 plus yards 26 times which isnt good.. 2 runs for 20 yards or more which is pathetic for the carries he gets

Chatman was impressive at Wembley last year, I think he's worth keeping around.

jones isnt a breakaway running back, thats what leon is supposed to be here for. jones is a power back whos plays are basically runs between the tackles all the time. and dont judge how many runs he had over 10 yards last year, have u forgotten how crappy our oline was? we should be glad he had over 1100 yards with that o line

Thomas Jones was a waste of a high second round pick and a ton of money. I said it then and nothing has changed. Without a good running game, Favre will be laid to slaughter.

This is an area that wasn't very impressive for us. Jones looks to be a JAG who has lost a step and Leon missed a key block that got Favre sacked. There's a lot of work to do in the running game on both sides of the ball.

I think everyone saw the play in which Leon missed his block and I was with my friend watching the game and we both said. RUN A LAP. But I know this o-line still has to jell and that will come with time. I think they did a pretty darn good job giving Brett time to pass and for once felt good to see a Jets QB pick someone else's defence apart. As for the running game I am not worried at all, we will be fine.

We did not give up a high second pick for Jones. We traded down 20 or so spots. If your gonna whine, at least get your facts right so you don't look like a mindless troll.

I was not big on the Thomas Jones signing either. I don't like RB who are getting close to 30. Giving them a big guaranteed deal is just nonsense. And Jones's contract basically means we can't cut him until next season. Otherwise the cap hit is too big.

Jones was traded for the equivalent of a third round pick (swapping of second rounders).

Of all our backup RB I like Chatman the best. He's got two things going for him:

    1) bowling ball size that's hard to bring down

    2) quick feet

Chatman could jump and move laterally very well near the line of scrimmage. I like backs that can keep their feet moving and avoid the trash. And for a #3 RB he seemed to have some decent ability.

not to get off topic, but for a running game, we need to find a way to get the rb from georgia next year. He grew up in the bronx and jersey, and i promise you he will be the real deal

Jesse Chatman was the man in SD before he almost ate his way out of FB. And with a poor line last year he was a really productive player, This guy is oging to be a sleeper for the jets.

Hopefully he evolves into a good second option.
