Pudge had better sign somewhere else. 10 for 50?!?! Seriously?!?!

And yes, this is, at least partially, Girardi's fault. A manager in baseball has two responsibilities: 1) make in-game moves at the right time and 2) motivate the team to play up to their potential.

    Girardi has failed at both.

you would've thought the Yankees would've learned not to pitch Ponson against the Red Sox. Truth is, Ponson shouldn't be starting for a playoff contender, but especially not against Boston.

I have watched the guy every day for almost 5 years now. He is NOT the bets player in baseball, he's a stat sheet stuffer. A great FANTASY player, he has hurt us more than helped us in october and he's been the biggest reason we haven't won a series since 2004.

It's not what have you done for me lately it's what have you done for me at all?

You never discussed that w/ me b/c I would LOVE to have had lowell over ARod. There are 10+ 3B I'd rather have over ARod, they may not put up the meaningless fantasy #s ARod does but they actually can come through from time to time when we need them in big spots.

Obviously you haven't watched him if you are trotting out his postseason avg. Since Game 5 of the 2004 ALCS he has ONE RBI. That's 16 games!!!! He's hitting .143 w/ ONE RBI in his last 16 postseason games which spans 4 series. Matsuzaka in the WS last year had 3 ABs and TWO RBI!!!!

You are so incredibly ridiculous s if 2 hits in this game will make us forget about almost 5 years of poor clutch hitting. He had 2 out and a runner on 1st in the 1st inning- that's not clutch. I'm glad he finally got a 2 out hit w/ a runner on but it's not clutch. Where was his other clutch hit? a leadoff double? You are really reaching but what would I expect from an ARod lover when they don't have anything to back them up.

The team does suck but he leads them w/ his bat, if he played like he was capable of playing we'd be near 1st place right now.

Now maybe you will appreciate Torre more, he was able to get us to the postseason in spite of ARod for years.

Ponson was ok, it was not the pitching it was the bats like it has been most of this season and our bats are led by an overrated choker who only comes through in meaningless situations.

Junc, you're just delusional. You want ARod to lead? It's Princess Derek's team, why doesn't he lead?

Whatever. It's really not worth the effort of an argument with you.

We know ARod isn't a leader but I want him to lead by example w/ the bat. he's SUPPOSED to be our best player but in a big spot I'd rather have Jose Molina up. That shouldn't be the case. He's a waste of all that talent b/c he is so weak mentally.

Junc, I would much rather have Arod on my team than Jeter and just about every GM and manager in baseball would say the same if you were to poll them. Now how does that sit with you?

First off, did you poll all these GMs? and any GM that wants to win wouldn't rather have ARod on their team. If they want to sell tickets b/c certain fans are mesmerized by gret fantasy #s then yes they'd take ARod but if winning was important like it used to be for the Yankees then they'd pick Jeter. I know I'd rtaher have Jeter, I know I'd rather have Brosius at 3B than ARod.

They would want him simply because he is a better player. There is nothing else to read into it than that.

Again, if they want to fill some seats and have a great fantasy player they take ARod but if they want to win they choose Jeter. How many years of ARod do we need to watch bfore it sinks in that he is terrible w/ pressure on him?

No, if they want to win they take Arod too. A .306 hitter that averages 44 HRs and 127 RBIs a year gives them a better chance to win than a .316 singles hitter. Especially when Arod is also a better defensive player as well.

The facts tell us otherwise. I'd much rather spread ARod's ridiculous salary around and improve the overall team than rely on 1 choker who can't get it done when we need him. I don't care about the fantasy #s, to me it's about when those #s are made and most of ARod's are in meaningless situations. Daisuke Matsuzaka has more postseason RBI in ONE postseason game than ARod has in his last 16. That's all we need to know.

I'll bet he had less GIDPs than Jeter did too, right? Did we need to know that as well?

I say Jeter AND Arod can go fuck themselves, howdya like dem apples? We got this Arod clown for 9 more years? It's a disaster people, an absolute disaster. Junc is 100% correct by the way. I was once an Arod supporter, no more.

Well, the good news is we won't have Jeter for 9 more years.

Still, you can blame Cashman for all of this. I do. He thinks he can evaluate talent and he is a disaster at it. Hughes is garbage, Kennedy is worse. They rushed Chamberlain into the starting rotation and probably ruined his arm in the process. This despite the fact he had injury issues in college and last year in the minors.

I still ask anybody on this board to name one player that Cashman has ever brought to this team that has been worth the money or prospects and I'm not talking about any that Steinbrenner told him to go get. Maybe Abreu. I will give him that one but he will dump him after this year anyway.

Now I understand why Cappy doesn't bother to post anymore. I notice a conspicuous absense from AMJets too.
