If you're going to keep an extra player with potential, you want it to be a QB. They are the most valuable players on the field.
I really hope the Chatman cut isn't true. They did it to Danny Ware last year, so I guess I shouldn't be suprised. I can live with the Poteat being released because somebody could cut a decent CB who can fill the position.
I have disliked ainge for years now. thus, would not be happy if he is kept at the expense of a useful player like chatman.
ainge does exquisitely hold the clipboard, though. there is a serene quality to it, very majestic-like. perhaps that was the deciding factor.
If cutting Chatman is true I will say this - the guy only averaged 3.2 ypc on 29 carries against scrubs. What's he going to do going against the Patriots first team or the Ravens ? More like 0.2 YPC. So maybe he's not quite the talent we all want him to be.
Another guy named Justin something had that blazing speed... and he was a good KO returner, nothing more. Carroll? He's a walking PI machine - worse version of that Justin dude. Look. Mangini failed to convert JM into reliable corner. What makes you think he can do his wonders on the walking PI machine that Carroll is?
(The hoagie has been removed from my right hand and now I can use the shift key again.) Chatman was also playing with scrubs last night. What could he do against the Patriots? Maybe 7 carries for 73 yards. He did that against them last year. In the London game, against the eventual Super Bowl champions, he ran for 79 yards on 16 carries. The following week he put 124 yards on Buffalo's ass.
He was cut earlier in the week. I thought he should have been kept around for a few more days to be the sacrificial lamb at RB last night.
Hello?! We're talking about a guy who's at best going to be the 5th corner. Do you know what that means? Unless we struck castrophe in the secondary he's only going to see defensive playing time in blow outs or in the prevent. Meanwhile, You can never have enough speed on your depth chart or on specail teams...and ya never know..maybe Mangini turns him into something. Unbelieveable that jet fans cant comprehend the idea of long term depth and having Superior speed and athleticism for special teams.
This is a bs post. No way did they do this and besides, why would they announce cuts a day early. Did anyone bother to check the link from the original post?
Jets set to rehire special teams coach Westhoff by Dave Hutchinson/The Star-Ledger Friday August 29, 2008, 7:11 PM This is what the link says from the first post. But cutting chatman makes no sense. Last year it was Ware.
I forgot that he wasn't running behind Faneca or Mangold either. So point well taken. If the guy has had some decent success in the NFL, that's all the more reason to keep him. Cutting Chatman is just a head-scratcher.
Yes...and if you did, you'd see it was there... I hope they keep Carroll. He's got talent, and he's got high upside. He was a project out of college, now maybe he can put it together a little. Poteat was good last year, but that was likely a fluke. Chatman AND Caulcrick surprises me a lot. I'm surprised Chatman didn't make it, but I'm not shocked. I figured if he missed the cut, we'd at least keep Jehuu though. Sounds like we'll bring in someone else.
