Farve is def. saying the right things, but Elway is breathing too much mile high air.

The Pats still have the tools to win this division.
Can we please get back to "one game at a time" and hope for no injuries to OUR team ?

Smart comments by Favre. He doesn't need to hype up NE for this weekend.

Obviously Favre will say that but I think a guy like Elway has a bit of an agenda since Brady has passed him on the list of all time great QBs. If the Pats won the div and had a decent showing in postseason people can say it was the team Brady played for more than the greatness of Tom Brady when we all know that isn't true.

Anyone counting the Bills or the Pats out right now are nuts. The first couple of games of the season while important for the race for the playoffs dosen't reflect much on who is or isn't a powerhouse team.

Everyone thought the Pats were done when Bledsoe went down. Cassell might turn out to have enough coupled with a good running attack and a great down field WR along with one of the best possession recievers in the game to be very effective? The Pats will go as far as their D takes them and that may well be further than us or the Bills?

I like our team but we played one sloppy game last week.

exactly how i feel. untill more games go by the board, we really don't know what kind of a team we have. last weeks game was against a very bad teaam and we can't really judge anything by it just yet, one way or the other...

The Pats aren't going to just fall on their face. They will still be in the division race all season. The only difference is they just may not run away with it like they usually do.

The Pats are definitely not done and should still be a good team just not a contender. The difference btw '01 and this time is Brady was getting ready to start soon anyway so the injury didn't rock the Pats the way this one has. NE was 5-11 the season before and 0-2 to start 0-1, the current Pats were 16-0 a year ago- the situations couldn't be more different.

That's what bothers me too. Nugent's injury notwithstanding, because there was nothing we could do about that and the missed opportunities for some points there, the day was pretty sloppy.

Throwing Hail Mary's, piling up penalties and going for it on 4th and 13 isn't exactly a game plan that will get you to the playoffs. Not having someone in the wings who can reliably kick the extra point conversion is inexcusable. We almost lost the game at 20-14 when Chad was threatening because of that point after alone.

Exactly the right attitude to have at this point. We have not played a team of substance. The Phins are improved, but still have very little talent right now.

We need to beat the Brady-less Pats this weekend to even entertain talk of a division crown. That will be no easy feat. This is still a very talented football team. Cassel still has Moss and Welker to throw to. They still have a good running game.

I'll wait till after the game Sunday to start doubting their chances. I hope the Jets do the same thing.

The Pats were not impressive against the horrible Chiefs last Sunday. Maybe they were in shock, or just rusty...who knows.

I get the feeling we won't be getting the same team that played last Sunday though. These guys, yet again, have a reason to rally...circle the wagons if you will. Motivation is a powerful thing and whether they're a team full of cheaters or not, they have a lot of pride. We're not a better team then the Pats in all facets of the game. They still have big play capability, something the lowly Phins lacked. We'll need to play a complete game in order to win this Sunday. Fortunately I think the Jets will be up for the task.

Pretty ironic that it would be Elway, because if you remember 99 when he retired and the Broncos picked Bubby Brister over Griese (IIRC), Elway uttered a famous line to Brister "You're driving a Ferarri, don't wreck it" (because that was atwo time defending Super Bowl team). The Broncos went on to lose their first 3, then the Jets (who were 0-3 as well) went out there and beat them in the game where Terrell Davis got hurt for the first time trying to tackle Victor Green on a pick.

So you can see that a QB is pretty important. It's not automatic that they're gonna keep on keeping on just because they have Moss, Welker, etc. I'm shocked so many people (and knowledgeable ones at that) are taking this tact.

The Pats were a real good team that year with or without Brady. Brady went down in the playoffs and they didn't miss a beat when Bledsoe came back in. We just didn't know it at the time.

The Pats are loaded on O outright loaded. My contention is the Pats lost in the playoffs the last 3 years because they outright abandoned the run and put to much on Brady. They won SB when Brady didn't have it all on his shoulders.

Brady is obviously a great QB but we have no idea how good or bad Cassell is and the reality is with the talent on that team they should be able to push defenses around at the point of attack and go over the top with Moss anytime they want.

We play a sound game we should be in it all the way. We play the kind of sloppy ball we played against Miami and were going to have a long day.

ditto for me. and i'm not just saying that because your big gun is pointed at my face :)

If anything I feel more strongly, this team actually shocked me a little that it did not play better last Sunday (as I posted in game day thread during the game). There was someone in some other thread (I think the predict-the-record one) blathering on about how the jets would win 13 game this year with the "deep" analysis that the Packers won 13 games last year with Favre, and now we have Favre and a better team than the Packers, this person claimed as "obvious", so we should win at least 13 this year.

I don't know how many of you caught the Monday night Packer game against a strong Viqueen team, but ... based on first week performance ... at the moment the Jets do NOT have a better football team than the Packers, not even close. If they don't get better than they were last weekend, IMO we don't even make playoffs, Brady or no Brady, reborn Bills or no reborn Bills.

Just callin' it the way I see it.

p.s. By the way I'm not saying that i don't expect to make playoffs, not at all. I'm just saying that we have to get better, we can't be lucky forever. The packers last year actually looked AWFUL in their first 2-3 games, but they got lucky breaks and won all three, they encountered opponents that were in equal disarray at the start of the year (Philly, Giants, Bolts) and won by the barest margins (kinda like the Jets won this past Sunday). But that could not be counted on to last forever, and the Packers eventually did get better. The Jets will have to do the same, is all I'm saying, and it's a reasonable thing to hope for/expect that they will.
