    Continue to unleash Favre, make more use of the tight ends, and then any one of the running backs should be able to look better than they have. I'd like to see us use Jenkins like the Fridge tho at goal line situations.

    You guys realize his suspension was because of testing positive for a diuretic at the end of last season, right?

    I like the idea of splitting the carries between a few backs throughout the game. You see who the hot hand is that day, and you keep feeding him the ball.

    Runningbacks

    As our recievers are coming together with our quarterback. What can we do to get a fire lit under our running backs (and you know who I am talking about Mr. Jones)?

    I was thinking that I wouldn't mind getting back Jesse Chatman back. When does his suspension end? And is he still on our roster.

    I liked what I saw from him in the preseason. I think he can be a very productive back.

    What do you think?

    As much as I love Jenkzilla, the Fridge was a rookie when they started sending him into offensive formations.Kris Jenkins isn't old, but he's had a few health issues and I'd prefer to see him used in the way he would be most successful in. His endurance is still seemingly a question mark.

    i'd like to convert Coles to a running back. He was a legendary RB in HS and I think FSU made a mistake in converting him to WR, he's just a few inches too short. Make him a RB again. I know it sounds crazy, but I like it better than watching somebody run into a lineman's butt.

    I second the continued use of the TE. We have 3 guys who can play. Let's use them !

    As to Chatman, who knows what kind of shape he's in. If he looks good I wouldn't mind giving him some reps to see what he can do. Starting him is obviously premature. Give him at least a couple of games to get into the swing of things.

    I think the call to start Chatman is just frustration at TJ not doing more in the running game. We're paying this guy big bucks and outside of the first game he hasn't done squat. If that continues for very long the Jets should try any and all players (including Caulcrick) to get a spark in our rushing attack.

    The OL hasn't done a good job YET in the run game, they have been great in pass protection but the run game is a work in progress.

    I agree. Our Pass protecting is vastly improved. The run game needs work. Tons of work on short yardage plays.

    Jones is a decent runner. He lacks breakaway speed and has some power. Chatman is a similar runner, who has shown even less success throughout hihs career is the same type of role. No reason to bench Jones over him, but I would get him inot the line up some and give him the short yardage chances.

    Holy smokes annointing him the starter & he is not even played a regular season down for us. May I remind you he is a reject from the blowholes & to my knowledge has not made any name for himself in the league yet. If you are basing in on his pre season performance I think U have to take 2 steps backwards since xhibition & TC & regular season is like night & day

    Thomas Jones has had 4 games this year and all of last year. He hasn't shown much. What was his average vs. Arizona, 2.5 yards per carry? There is a reason Jones is on his 4th team. I'm not saying Chatman is our future at RB--I am saying give him 2 starts and take a look. If he stinks (like Jones has) go back to Jones or someone else. Chatman can hardly do less than Thomas Jones has shown in the last 20 games. I think Jesse runs harder and doesn't go down as easily, but we'll never know watching Jones run into (that's right "into") the line and go down with his 2 yard pickup. When is the last time you ever saw Jones juke a defender or get loose in the secondary? Nothing personal, but he hasn't shown me much.

    This reminds me of an earlier thread about Brett Favre being a mistake....

    SlowMo Jones is what we call him in my household. He needs the OL to start using actual TNT to create a hole big enough for him to find. I think his biceps get caught up on the defensive team's shoulder pads or something...

    He had 2.6/Carry vs. ARI.
    @MIA - 22 Attempts - 101 Yards - 4.6/Carry
    vs. NE - 17 Attempts - 70 Yards - 4.1/Carry
    @SD - 10 Attemps - 37 Yards - 3.7/Carry
    vs. ARI - 18 Attempts - 46 Yards - 2.6/Carry

    No your not. That has been my reply when people are so quick to knock TJ. We have a lot of money tied up in the o-line and the run blocking still is not that good.

    With the exception of the Card's game, all pretty good games. Jones is not a bad running back, he is just not great. One of his major flaws is, he is not very quick to the hole, and does not run with power in short yardage situations. Jones will continue to be the starter for several more games at least.

    Chatman is short, very powerful, and aggressive. Has a good bust to the hole, and one solid cut before he hits. Seen a lot of this kid with Miami, and was very impressed. When the Jets signed him I said, on another board, that he was better then Jones, and nearly got skinned alive. The reason he hasn't been more successful in league over the last five years, is he has had weight problems.

    Don't forget he actually got busted in Miami. The Jets knew it was under appeal, and signed him anyway. I wonder if he had a weight clause in his contract with Miami and was doing a diuretic to keep under an assigned weight?

    He will help big time at the goal line and hammering tired defensive players late in the game.

    Jones remains the starter

    I'm really looking forward to see how Chatman does. I wonder why we don't convert Brad Smith to a more run-oriented player. He's quick, he always seems to know where the first down is, and God knows he can't do anything else.
