I was watching some highlights of Brett's career today, and wondered looking at him, have we seen the best of him or is he still getting better? One things for sure, he certainly doesn't scramble like he used to , lol. But watching these clips, to me he looks better every year....... Thoughts........
I think he will be fine. To me he would even be better if our running game gets going. Play action would never stop.
The man is a HOF'r, one of the best QB's ever (top 20) to play the game. He is playing with a chip on his shoulder and it seems he may be working harder than ever to continue to improve his game now that he has to learn everything over. He's said that he's not satisfied with where he's at, so I expect him to keep working as hard as he has been and to continue to get better. He has something to prove this year, perhaps more than ever.
well we have seen his best statistical game. but no i dont think we have seen the best of him yet. wait until we are trailing in the 4th with less than 3 minutes. watching him lead a game winning drive as time expires will be even sweeter than watching him throw 6 tds. you are right he cant scramble very much anymore. watching him though you can see he has that mystical pocket presence only the greats have. for years i have been watching brady step up just as one of our guys is about to take him down. the little subtle move giving him the extra second to get a pass away and burn the blitz. favre has that same ability and it is amazing to watch. instincts like that only get better it seems.
I think it was Ron Wolf (could be wrong) that said the most unlooked and one of the most important qualities in a QB is their ability to make the first guy miss. And despite Favre's one of the all-time greats at that; and, despite his age, he hasn't lost that ability.
Well, not to piss on everybody's cornflakes here, but he's also been good for at least one boneheaded interception a game. Lets see him beat a decent team before we start sucking each others dicks.
before we dismantled them the cardinals were considered a team on the rise, and as you would say a decent team. just because he destroyed them doesn't change that. i will also take his one interception a game for 3 passing tds any day of the week. its a lot more productive than the 165 1td 0int games we are used too. p.s. its also a lot more fun to watch.
Cardinals were a decent team coming in. I don't think anybody in our wildest dream thought we'd beat them the way we did with Brett throwing as many touchdowns as he did. (Some of us thought we'd win, yes, but not by that margin). Cards didn't disappoint. They went out and put up 35 points. Jets had been averaging about 20PPG going into Week 4. Had we had a stagnant offense like we did with the Patriots and Chargers, no way we would've won this game. Not to mention the Cards had a better defense than us coming into this game. So I say Favre actually beat a decent team here. Now, as to whether people wanna start sucking each other's dicks...I'll leave that up to them to do what they gotta do.
Right, before us ARI beat a scrappy 49'rs team in San Fran, thrashed Miami, then lost a close game against a pretty good 'skins team in Washington. I think they're going to give Buffalo there first loss this weekend in Arizona.
Chad didn't throw interceptions?.......He threw horrible wounded duck interceptions. Towards the end of his career here he was good for one of those a game.
Somewhere like radar Grogan's ears just went up...... I'd say yeah statistically we've probably seen the best game he'd have but I think we are just beginning to see the leadership role and why guys will kill themselves for him. It's unlikely we'll see him throw 6 TDs in a game considering he's never done that before but I'd agree he wants to prove all the doubters wrong. I don't remember this cloud of doubt with Montana when he went to the Chefs plus I think Favre honestly believes this team can win alot of games and I think the team already has alot of faith in him. Honestly I think the best is yet to come with guys just beginning to gel with him on offense and as long as Jenkins stays healthy the D is going to be very good.
At least one and then some. But even if Favre's INTs equal Penny's, Penny never moved the chains the way Favre is moving them. That's the difference. With Favre you take a little bit of the bad with the good. With Penny, towards the end, it was all mostly bad.
In his defense, last weeks interception was because he thought it was a free play. How they did not call offsides on that play is beyond me. But I agree, I think he probably shoudl've just flung it downfield if he wants a free play out of it.
If Favre can win a Super Bowl with this hard luck franchise then they should build a Hall of Favre on top of the Hall of Fame. Seriously though, turning around the league doormat in one year would be an easy way for Favre to zoom up the best ever lists.
Favre's already top 5 on a lot of best ever lists. He would have a strong case for #1 (which he really already does) if the Jets somehow won a super bowl with him.
we have a better skill cast (Keller,Washington,Coles,Cotchery,Stuckey..and WAIT TILL CLOWNEY IS HEALTHY) than he has ever had, and he is smarter now, than he is ever been(like Pennington with an arm)
i think his receiving corps of last year might have something to say about that. but maybe they were overrated because of favre (although i definitely wouldnt call Jennings, or even driver for his work ethic and team effort overrated) and maybe these Jets' receivers were inhibited due to Pennington's limited offense. I guess we'll see but as of right now most ppl w/out a second thought would say the pack's options last year were better.
