I mentioned earlier in the season that he tends to get beat towards the end of games and that it may be an endurance issue. This game clearly illustrated that. With all the run blocking he was clearly tired and got beat a handful of times in the 4th quarter and OT. Last week there were a couple of times where he was engaged in a block and a delayed stunt or blitz ended up getting around him. This week a similar play happened where he was engaged and a late stunt came around and he slid out to pick him up. Cotchery almost surely would have had a TD on the first Favre INT if he didn't fall over. Break out the longer spikes next time you go to Oakland Mangini. If you have input as to how to do this analysis better, please let me know. I appreciate anything you guys can tell me. Past Weeks: Week 6 Week 4 Week 3 Week 2
58 is Kalimba Edwards. He has 18 tackles, 4 sacks, and 1 FF so far this season. Although he beat D'Brick several times, D'Brick didn't give up a sack and he was really great in run blocking like Broadway Brett said. So overall pretty solid game by D'Brick, can't really say the same about the right side of the line though...
I'm glad you posted this cause when I post in the game threads that D'Brick gets/got beat people just don't believe it. He has improved but is not #4 material yet and may never be at the rate he's going. Although at times he shows flashes of dominance just not consistantly enough for a TOP LT He got Chad's ankle fuked last year and got him killed the year before also (Vikings, Colts, Pats games). I just hope it's not a matter of time with Brett.
This was his worst game of the season in terms of pass protection. He had been pretty damn good in pass protection prior to this week. I really believe he needs to work on his endurance. A few times earlier in the season he had pretty much shut down the left side all game and got beat once or twice in the 4th Q. This game was pretty much the same but he got beat 4 times in pass protection throughout the 4th Q and OT. There's no doubt in my mind that running the ball so much contributed to this. That's no excuse - he needs to be able to maintain his level of play late in the game regardless of how much we ran the ball. We cannot have breakdowns at LT when the game is on the line.
I posted an article in yesterdays NY Post which did an evulation of Brick performance. It is probably on page 3 or 4 now if you want to look it up
Are you suggesting that reading one paragraph from a NY Post beat writer is more valuable in developing an opinion on a player than watching the games and focusing on that individual player?
As long as champ agrees with the beat writer, yes. Or some hack from ESPN, as long as it's the opinion champ is looking for it becomes fact.
I've been noticing in these D'Brick threads that he seems to get beat in the second half more than the first half, which would make one question his motor. Mangini better get D'Bricks a$$ on the treadmill, while still feeding him twinkies to keep his bulk up.
Yep because he is far more impartial then a NYJ fan would be who is attempting to defend a medicore player at best
I am attempting to objectively look at his play and document what he does. There is nothing defensive about documenting exactly what he does on every play. I would be willing to bet the beat writer did not watch the games focusing on d'brick and documenting his every play. If you look at this weeks analysis you will see that he had a poor game in pass protection in the 4Q and OT.
I don't mind the article, what's funny is you grasping onto any negativity you can find as gospel and unquestioned truth.
I've enjoyed your reports BB. I've never felt they were biased at all. When he gets beat, you point it out. When he has a good play, you point it out. Champ's problem with your reports is that champ thinks he sucks, so since he doesn't see "beaten by #xx" on every play, then that means you must be biased. Nevermind that champ is BY FAR the most biased poster on this board, that doesn't matter to him. Edit: I believe this is the article champ is referring to: http://www.nypost.com/seven/10212008/sports/jets/things_not_lining_up_well_for_3_3_gang_g_134502.htm Jay Greenberg? Give me a break.
How can you even say that? I have no idea what BB's motives for posting this every week is, but his presentation of the facts, and his conclusions have been right on. I guess the real question is, why am I even responding to you?
