Not at all. They just make a trade, a FA pickup or draft one in round one. Clemens will never be the Jets starting QB again. Maybe an injury replacement but that's about it.
You would think a veteran hall of fame QB would know better then to keep chucking them up for grabs when he is under pressure, wouldn't you?
Favre has been chucking balls up for grabs when under pressure his entire carrier. You would think against two limited teams that you can run on the OC wouldn't put him in position to be under constant pressure particularly since his shoulder is clearly hurt.
I do think the offensive gameplan was terrible against the Chiefs but I don't think that excuses Favre for making some horrible horrible decisions. Despite the playcalling if Favre doesn't throw those interceptions we win the Chiefs game easily, same can be said for the Cinci game and would have won the Oakland game. Bottomline is Favre has to start playing better if the Jets are going to make anything out of this season.
Personally, I think people are making excuses for him. That doesn't matter though...he's Brett Favre he's kind of earned that right. And whats with this shoulder thing? *Every player* is hurt at this point. Every QB is hurt. Should the Colts stop putting the ball in Manning's hands because it's clear he's not 100% yet? If he's as good as people say he is, then he doesn't need these excuses.
Favre needs to shoulder his bad decisions like he has his entire career. But the CS needs to be able to understand his mindset on the field. They maximized his abilities against the Cards, and only then. People say 'That's just Brett being Brett'. I don't thin that is a great excuse, but if they truly understand the position they are in bringing Favre to the Jets, maybe they can actually call a gameplan that can set him up for success instead of calling obvious 5-wide spread in the first drive of the game where the defensive coordinator can devise a halftime gameplan that will make him look like a fool.
Agreed the personal sucks and since Tannenbaum put this team together he should be shit canned and the new GM should hire his HC. This being sarcastic is fun, now I get why you do it so much.
WTF is with the complaining about the spread? The Packers played the spread a ton last year...more options for a QB to throw to...especially one as great as Favre...is a bad thing? In what league? So how long are you guys going to cling to the coaching staff failing to make our HOF bound, NFL legend QB great?
Not like this he hasn't. Sure he's had some bad moments, and of course he had that horrible 2005 season, but he wasn't throwing up crap on a game to game basis like he is this year.
The guy is past his prime, clearly hurt and clearly uncomfortable in the Jets O. Rather than protecting and matching up in the run game and having him throw to wide open guys from play action they are trying to make him comfortable reading and reacting out of the spread. We can't protect him in the spread against crappy teams, he doesn't know where are WR are going and his chucking the ball up for grabs. No big deal another game or two where we only pass out of the spread and Favre will have his first major injury and we can give the ball to the next guy.
Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! McCarthy wasn't the least bit afraid to tell Brett how it has to be. It is one of the main reasons for Brett's resurgence last year.
There were several times in 2006 and 2007 that Favre would make a dumb play and McCarthy would be giving him a pissed off look as he walked off the field. He wasn't afraid to openly be that way. I like that kind of coach. Everyone must be held accountable for their actions, regardless of status.
