http://wcbstv.com/insidejets/jets.bills.eric.2.855620.html That was absolutely the first complete game by the Jets. Hopefully they can build off that and maintain some consistency throughout the second half of the season. 'The Drive' was awesome.
Don't forget there was also an 7min 38s drive in the second quarter. Not to mention a 9 play nearly 5 minute drive in the third. These types of drives will open up the opportunities for the lightning strike type play we saw in the first quarter in Miami. If only this type of play was our strategy instead of this week's tactic.
The drive was huge. They can run the ball if they put their minds to it. Also, Brett played a strong game but for the one really bad pick-and-return, which should never have been thrown (or thrown away).
No matter what he does or how he's playing when its a chance to drive down the field and win a game in the final seconds no ones better in the world then favre.
Exactly the kind of drive that Chad Pussington could never put together when we needed it. If Chad was at QB – we would have ran twice and then completed a 3 yard pass on the 3rd and 9, punted it and gotten our asses handed to us.
I thought we were moving on. It's the haters who bring him up the most. Most of the drive was running anyway, which is what worked the clock down. It would have been better if we capped it with a TD, but we ran them out of timeouts and made it a two score game which was the key. Straight out of the Parcells/Belichick coaching tree, the clock killing, ball control drive.
Its actually worth saying. With all the Chad could be 5-3 too talk. Chad would not have led that drive. Or the one in Oakland to get us to OT. Or threw 6 TD's vs. Arizona. Or throw 11 interceptions by now. haha.
He might not have need any of those drives without all the INTs. The discussion could go on forever because it's all what-ifs and no certainty.
Why does does Chad Pennington come up in every conversation on this board? Besides it is ridiculous to keep using these hypotheticals, chances are if the line performed the way they did on that last drive any qb could have led it. The line and Thomas jones were the key to that drive.
Brad Smith saved us too, on the end around. If he gets caught in the backfield there we're in trouble, as it is he got away and got us close enough to the first down to make it easily.
Pennington plays for the Dolphins On that drive the Jets went 65 yards in 8:41 of that total, 5 passes were thrown for a total of 17 yards. Not exactly a Favre inspired drive. The OL and Thomas Jones get the Kudos. Favre had little to do with it.
Elway was the best ever IMO. I know it's extremely debatable and I don't want to get into it in this thread but that's my opinion.
One of these weeks they will end up handing it off to the opposing DE. Just wait. They use it at least once a game and how opposing teams are still not ready for it just baffles me.
