Yep. IS, I completely understand the numbers. Jets presently are 2-1 in the division, with home games against Miami and Buffalo. Even a loss tonight could mean they still finish 4-2 in the division. That loss to Oakland really hurts, but they could still get to 11-5, although realistically 10-6 looks more feasible. But a loss tonight would be more about the numbers. It would mean this team is not one we should have confidence in, winning other big games down the road. It's a playoff type level of intensity, so a loss undermines confidence in other big games. Frankly and despite the numbers, despite the talent on this team, despite the prospect that a loss could be attributable to the CS differential, or the zebras, I can't see how this team does much this year without a win tonight.
Most people who are football fans are pretty much sick F to begin with. The game is incredibly violent has about 15 minutes of action that takes a good three hours to complete. The fans in the stands are drunk and looking to beat on fans from other teams and the fans at home are being targeted by beer companies and drugs that give you oiley discharge, pretty much tells you what they think of the viewing public. The Pats have destroyed us, we stole their coach and they stole ours. We pick each others third rate players up all the time to try and get an edge. Our HC is a humorless fat nerd who has absolutely nothing of interest to say. Their HC resembles the Charachter Humphfrey Bogart played of the Captain of the Cain. If He wasn't a HC he would be homeless. If it was just football who the hell would care?
Yea...it's fuckin crazy. I realize we wanna put these bitches in their place and shit...but after this we still have 6 games and we're better than most of the teams in the AFC this year. Winning the division would be nice, but the actual goal of the season is to keep playing when most of the league isn't playing. If we're doing that, I'm fine with whatever happens tonight. Plus, we're going to win anyway. For the mental health of this board, I pray to Jah we win....but I'm not too worried we won't.
I see the Colts as being the number 1 WC and I don't like our games coming up. The two easiest games are both road games on the WC exactly why we lost the Oakland game. The Dolphins have a much easier road than us and they and/or the Bills are likely to get to 10 & 6. The Dolphins have wins over both the Pats and the Bills. We have wins over both the Dolphins and Bills. It just gets real sticky if we lose tonight and it's not in our favor. It may well take 11 wins to secure the WC this year.
Winston, I agree. I conceded to IS there is a numbers analysis that says they can get past a loss tonight, but I don't buy it, either. I don't think much of Buffalo right now, and until proven otherwise the Jets own Miami. But the Tits game will likely be a loss, and as you mention they have already shown an ability to lose a road game on the left coast (I don't include the SD game there - those guys played a very good game that night, sometimes that happens) against a team on paper they should have beaten. I also agree, thinking so all along, that 10-6 is no guarantee of a playoff spot, and at best gets you into the whole wildcard bs with maybe no home playoff games. Not another season like that, please. Those were Chad Specials, hopefully with these guys something greater is in the cards. If so, it starts tonight, or it probably ain't gonna happen.
To use a good joke I heard; "I've been sleeping like a baby through this whole financial mess. I sleep for 2 hours, then I get up and cry for 2 hours. I sleep for 2 hours, then I get up and cry for 2 hours."
True. I just like the way these two coaches look at shit...all this other stuff besides the game is fan fodder...shit for people to play with in their heads so they can spin it this way or that. I actually think that kind of shit bothers me more than it bothers them. Thats strength...cause some coaches...this franchise has seen it's fair shit...are so bitch made that the media and all this bullshit noise actually and obviously gets to them. Mangini and BB, in the world of fans, are fat, nerdy, dirty, socially retarded, and many other bad names. In their world, the real world, they're NFL HC's...one highly successful...one looking to be, hopefully by knocking off the other.
Jets are 7-0 in games that Jones has scored a TD. Is that a statement about how badly he sucked last year or how good he has been this year?
I'd say a statement that our O-line was garbage last year and is vastly improved. Jones got 1,000 yards behind that line last year, the team as a whole only ran for 6 TDs, two were by the QBs.
I disagree with him too. If the Jets lose this game they could still make the playoffs. But if they lose this game, they aren't doing SHIT in the playoffs.
Mangini held on extra long to Belichick's hand at the end. I loved how the slimeball couldn't get away fast enough.
This win had more to do with players wanting to win then the gameplan... Seriously mangini has to go sutton has to go... schotty has to go.. Were a good a coaching staff away from a championship...
The play-calling was very streaky. There were some great calls on offense. Farve had many great looks to wide receivers. We should of run it more however. Prevent defense at the end of the game was atrocious. You gotta blitz. If they get a touchdown at least there's some time on the clock. Moreover you'll pressure Cassell into making mistakes, which Jenkins did twice on the drive before.
