It's difficult for us to believe the Jets may be a contender given the history of this franchise. So I wonder, when would you realistically consider us a contender? Obviously most of the poll choices are "IF"s
I second that although I'd settle for a AFCC appearance too. To lower expectations even further, beating the Titans on their home field would be huge. Then again, that would require a 4 qtr effort.
Beat Tennessee and I will believe. If the Jets can topple them in their house, they can beat any team in the league.

Right now. Many people underrate the fact that the regular season is simply a tournament to get into the championship tournament. The Jets look damn good this year, and have only improved as the season has gone on. We've got a good D and an O led by a QB that doesn't quit. I actually think we're one of the 10 best teams in football this season, but all this positivity makes me feel like I'm setting myself up to be disappointed this year. If I am, oh well. This team looks like we'll be in it for the long haul too. Like that old Cowboys coach said, if the Super Bowl was so special they wouldn't play it every year. They are just as legit as most of the other teams playing well this year. Just stay consistent. Thats all I want from them, and I'll keep that belief. This team is only now starting to hit it's stride.
There already contenders. I mean that doesnt mean there a lock to win the Super Bowl or even the division but they are definitley contenders at 7-3.
A contender is a team that's highly competitive, a champion is a team that has won it all. I feel that if the Jets beat the Titans in Tennessee they are highly competitive.
With the level of competition being nearly even, any team can beat anyone this year. But I don't think the Jets beat the Giants in the SB. Anyone else in the NFC would be like playing the Pats, but not as good.
When we win the division or 11+ was my view. This years Jets are clearly an upgrade on what we had and tehy are showing good stuff. I don't think they have the ability to put games away as yet although I'm hoping they get there @Tennessee will be a real challenge can the D play strong the whole game who knows two trips west to admittedly SF and Seattle but the travel Buffalo are a hoodoo for us and Miami are way better than they have been Denver is always a risk because of Shannahan I'll be delighted with 4 wins from the last 6 games but they we ned more complete games. Get us clear on top with this run in and I'll start to believe

There is a difference between a negative prospectus and a realictic one. Based on our record we are contenders. But we need a victory against the best, and right now that is the Titans of Tennessee. This is not a negative post.
