This petition is absolutely all about Ralph Wilson, and is only tangentially related to keeping the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo. By signing the petition, you are writing a letter to Paul Tagliabue, ostensibly expressing your disagreement with the collective bargaining agreement that was just signed. By signing, you're saying that, "I support Ralph Wilson and his principled stand to do what’s in the best interest of the league, our hometown team, and our hometown itself." Well, I don't. What he's saying is BAD for the NFL. What he's doing is bad for the Buffalo area - but he won't tell you that. I don't know much about the Bills' internal finances, but I do know that 80% of league revenues are shared, and the league owners just made an agreement to share even MORE revenue. They agreed to give money to Ralph Wilson, all for the privilege of broadcasting and playing games in Buffalo, New York. So, MOST of the money that Ralph Wilson gets to play with between counting liver spots, is shared revenue. From there, it's his job to maximize local revenue. He doesn't. He's blaming it on the economic climate of the region but, in truth, he's old, lazy, and set in his ways, and looks at local marketing as some sort of seedy pimping. He's said as much. The Cincinnati Bengals, the other "small market team," complaining about the new cba, are among the most (if not THE most) profitable teams in the league. The Bengals stole a stadium deal from the people of Cincinnati. They pay $1 Million per year in rent, and KEEP all revenue. The problem with the Bills and Bengals isn't that they aren't GIVEN enough money to play with; the problem with the Bills and Bengals is, frankly, Ralph Wilson and Mike Brown. And the good people of Buffalo should brace themselves for the next Wilson bamboozle. Ralph Wilson Stadium is now 33 years old. It's been renovated a time or two, but just you wait - Ralph is going to start crying about how the taxpayers need to buy him a fancy new stadium. If the taxpayers agree, then shame on them. If Ralph can't make it a franchise work in Buffalo, then he should sell the team to someone who can.
my brother is a big Bills fan ive already signed it, lol i like the bills unlike most jet fans, i go to one of their games each year
Thanks alot  . And yes I would do the same any time if the Jets were ever in trouble. What is your current stadium situation, I know there is a plan for a new stadium built Is it in NYC or NJ???
As of his last press conference, he is not after a new stadium because he feels (due to the small market) that it will not make a difference in the amount of local revenue it will bring in advertising and luxury boxes. my 2 cents on it, the team should move back into the city and get more local revenue that way. the stadium is far enough out of the city that i'm sure that it has some affect on some smaller busnesses from getting involved with the orginization. You did make some good points, I got a little offended yesterday on people trashing my hometown. as bad as it can be, it's still home to me.
Not my intention. I just think that, were Ralph Wilson to sell to an aggressive business persion, we wouldn't have to discuss whether they need to move. The salary cap is $102 million, and Ralph gets a check for $100 million in shared revenue from the league each year. When he sells his team, he and his family will pocket $600 or more pre-tax dollars. I don't weep for Ralph Wilson. Enough said by me. It's a bad petition. I recommend against signing it.
Actually Baltimore would be a good fit along with Pitt once Miami and Buff(soon to be LA) get the boot from the AFC East. I don't care about old rivalries since they change in all sports(NBA, NHL, & MLB). The NFL is the only one with f'ed up divisions with Dallas in the East and St. Louis in the west. I wish they fix it so it looks accurate.
I cannot believe all of the crying I se a e hear when someone has a disparaging remark about a particular fan base. Stop with the Politically correct BS. As a Jets fan i have taken my fair share of abuse. Some legit, some not but it comes with the territory. I thought this was a web site primarily for Jet fans and it is amazing how some here line up to defend their Patriot fan buddies. I think they can take care of themselves and even have their own sites to do so. I have been accused of looking through green colored glasses, but I write from experience. Green colored glasses and jet penis envy as it was written, would mean that I hated all other fans, they all suck and Jet fans are the best in the NFL. That I did not say. I have attended many bills games in the 80's when they were not very good and their stadium was filled, unlike the meadowlands in the mid 90's. So Jets fans as a whole are far from the best in the NFL.
Abuse?! Are you serious?! Odd concept of abuse. Dirtywater and NightowlTom - two of our Pats posters - have both proven themselves as not just good, but great posters on the board. You haven't. That's not political correctness - that's just recognition of good posters. I think you'll find that among veteran people on the board, this is a pretty common thinking. But good luck with that whole Me-Against-The-World (slash) I'm-A-Valiant-Jets-Defender thing you've got going on.
it has gotten to the point where I do not even know what the hell you are talking about. I would defeinately call it abuse when you have food, batteries, beer bottles, thrown at you and when you have half eaten food put on your seat from the guy behind you when you stand up. i am anything but a Jets defender. I was one of the first ones to line up and sign a petition to keep the bills in NY. I did it because a fan of another team requested it. I then get to read your theory on Ralph Wilson. The guy will be dead soon and either someone like Tom Golisano will step in and buy them or they will move. Like I said I never had any problems except for at Foxboro. If what I said is a "blanket statement" than I hope it is nice and warm.
Yeah. I guess I'm not surprised. If you read your own post above, you were referring to abuse you had received on this board. Now, you're shifting gears to turn it into the abuse of you being pelted with food, batteries, and such. You're sort of all over the place on this, so I'll just let you be.
just to clear things up and end this, i was referring to abuse at foxboro not on this board. let's stop the Bull shit and move on, like you said.
I can't help you read your own post. That's clearly NOT what you were referring to. But go with what you've got. You're not very good at this, but you'll get better in time.
maybe you can help me get better at this. where did i say that i was getting abused on this board? was it this? As a Jets fan i have taken my fair share of abuse. Some legit, some not but it comes with the territory. I thought this was a web site primarily for Jet fans and it is amazing how some here line up to defend their Patriot fan buddies. I think they can take care of themselves and even have their own sites to do so. if so just remember that a period separates each thought. maybe someday i will get better at this and have the time to post over 4 thousand times like yourself
Yeah, that. And, of course, the whining that followed it. Oh how tortured you are by your own fellow Jets fans. Look, a lot of people say foolish things and then try to spin out of them. It's nothing to be ashamed about. It doesn't take 4000 posts to fix, but you'll get better.
bro, after my time in foxboro, fellow jets fans do not come close. i only mentioned that guys like yourself are so quick to jump top the defense of other fans. let them do it themselves. finally, I will never try to spin my comment that my time at Foxboro was the absolute f@*kin worst experience i ever had at a sporting event. the Jets did win though!
