Maybe it is time to put Mangini's supposed D genus to work by doing what the Boys owner did which was putting his HC in charge of the D. If Mangini does worse then Sutton then we all know the fraud we have coaching our team

What makes you think he isn't already running the defense?

Well he's defiunitely not a genius as a head coach so maybe you are right and it's time to demote him. The problem is that the Jet's 3-4 isn't all that good either and neither was the Pat's 3-4 when he was the DC there. I think the place to demote him to is like Loyola or something.

Cause he never consulted Sutton ONCE during the SF game. In fact both man kept a consider distance from each other. Reading the tea leaves I would say EM & Sutton are not so buddy buddy anymore

Well since the buck stops at his door as I suggested we would see real quick like how capable he is to be a HC

Did you happen to notice that they were both wearing headsets?

BTW, I can't imagine they are too buddy-buddy after Mangini tried to replace Sutton so obviously this past offseason.

Sure I did & if that is the case that EM is calling the plays via the headset then we are in deep doo doo right up to our neck since that would show EM really is not a D guru. BTW if you were there & saw what I saw you may not have replied like U did

you're reading tea leaves yet you dont see that the HC is already responsible for the way the defense is playing?

I/ve noticed that too, and I have also seen a Mangini/Sutton encounter show a drastic change in the defense on the following series

Well if I knew that for sure I would not have started the thread. From what I saw last Sunday it was Sutton who was calling the plays & he was the guy moving players in & out of the lineup. If you have some concrete proof that EM is really the D play caller then please share your info with all of us

Dont you think the HC has input into the gameplans during the week?

I know there was a thread here asking what exactly he does other than chew gum, but c'mon, the HC is involved in every facet of the gameplan.

Just because he isnt calling plays during the game doesnt mean he doesnt have responsibility for what goes on.

    I love how youre back.

There really needs to be a forum for Jets darksiders so they can just bask in each other's negativity. I'd actually pay for that. Kind of like how you round up the old bulls, line them up, and make them take one to the back of the neck.

Off Topic: Champ how if your brother doing?

And i'm wondering how Mangini f***ed up the secondary/pass defense so bad. The past 2 seasons, our pass defense was one of our strengths. Maybe it's because our run defense is much better so it forces teams to pass

But there would only be traffic in there when we lose.

When you think about it, it's not too mind-boggling. Last year, teams ran all over us at will, so the weak Pass Defense was masked simply by teams not having to throw on us all that much.

Mangini has chosen to improve the Run D - which he has - but it's come at the expense of the Pass D. The LB's can't cover and after Revis & Rhodes, there's nobody. Lowery looks promising but is a rookie, Miller is gone, Poteat looks like he lost a step, Law looks like he lost two steps, and Coleman is downright awful. Mangini has chosen to go with intelligence/character/size over speed (instead of acquiring a mix of both players) and now that weakness is rearing its ugly head each week. Plain and simple, this D needs faster players.

I would argue that our pass rush causes the most problems. We are asking our secondary to cover WAY TOO LONG for them to be that effective. If we started putting constant pressure on the QB I believe we would not see so many WR's/TE's shaking free.

Totally agree. That problem is both the Coaches' and the players' faults. The Coaches got these players who really just don't look that quick at rushing the passer, and they're not making plays. The blitzes themselves are obvious and, combined with a lack of speed from the pass-rushers, the blitzes seem to get picked up more often than not. When you watch Philly & Pitt blitz, you never know where it's coming from, which is why the QB's facing them are under constant distress.

thats what drives me crazy... the old loser knows he has no job security, and he's here anyway acting like the biggest pussy with his vanilla defenses.

he needs to go, and then he needs to go in peace.
