Jets | Team to have a pre-draft workout with Gocong Sat, 15 Apr 2006 13:08:48 -0700 Aaron Wilson, of the Carroll County Times, reports the New York Jets will have a pre-draft visit with Cal-Poly DE Chris Gocong next week.
Great fit for the 3-4, could probably play SAM  Supposedly the Pats had a lot of interest in this guy
suppose I can answer my own question... but it was sort of rhetorical. I had never heard of him... Height: 6-2 1/8 | Weight: 263 | 40-Time: 4.70 Official Bio Strengths: Makes a lot of plays in the backfield and simply has a knack for getting to the quarterback...Intense and competitive with a non-stop motor...Smart and a hard worker with top intangibles...Plays with good leverage...Displays good strength and power...Was extremely productive and absolutely dominated at his level. Weaknesses: Did not play against elite competition...Doesn't have the size or bulk you look for...Has trouble shedding blocks...Might not have the agility needed to change positions...Just a situational player?...'Tweener who may not have a pro position Notes: Won the Buck Buchanan Award as the top defensive player in NCAA Division I-AA football...Had 36.5 sacks over the last two seasons...Played defensive end in college but could move to outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme at the next level.
Gocong is your prototype sleeper 34, OLB prospect. Very good speed, knows how to get to the QB, something like 40 sacks in the past two years. Midround guy, a good option to develop into that passrushing role for the future.
Some more stuff...another intruiging player for the 34 Jets | Team will conduct a pre-draft visit with M. Kudla Sat, 15 Apr 2006 21:52:53 -0700 Roger Brown, of the Plain Dealer, reports the New York Jets will conduct or have already conducted a pre-draft visit with Ohio State DL Mike Kudla.
I would love to have him on the Jets, he should be a good fit and as some others have said he could be a great sleeper
the thing in the reports that scares me about both is agility. Neither have displayed enough to ensure that you could indeed convert them. That and the fact the Kudla might be a juicer and is definitely injury prone.
Chris Gocong DE | (6'2", 263, 4.78) Code: CAL POLY Stats: 2001: 6 TK 0 SK 0 FF 2002: Redshirt 2003: 37 TK 1 SK 0 FF 2004: 71 TK 17 ½ SK 2 FF 2005: 98 TK 23 ½ SK 4 FF thats alot of sacks
There's no SAM in a 3-4 only Outside Linebacker. Seems like a decent prospect. I couldn't really say much about him though since I've never seen him play.
