I'm amused that every team where Parcells has seated his fat ass always acts like they were the first and only.

When he leaves - and he will - you'll know what I'm talking about.

The play calling horrible, failing to run on 3rd and short etc. It didn't just happen once,it's been bad decision after bad decision for 5 weeks. if the Coordinators are calling this, the HC should step in and put a stop to it. Same with the defense. The jets should have had Chad laying upside down all day yesterday, instead we haven't seen the jets get after the QB in a long while. Nothing changed. HC has to go. Add that to the fact that he is too young, and the players apparently didn't like him.

The Dolphins are going to end up a 1 and done. They used Chad and the element of suprise(as we did with his play action in 02) to barely beat bad teams. There is no way they even come close next year.

I don't act like Miami was the first / only place.....

Thanks, but I already know what you're talking about. I know of Parcells just as much as you do....

I don't know about the Jets fans, but I'd rather be 1 and done, than none....

I don't know about the Jets fans, but I'd rather barely beat bad teams, than lose to them...

You're right, the Jets will dominate next year....

I imagine you thought you knew Nick Saban pretty well back when you used to hang your OLD tagline - "IN SABAN WE TRUST".

We'll talk again in a year or two, I'm sure. Uncle Sundayjack will be there for you.

Yep, I did trust Saban. Even though he jumped ship on us, I think had he stayed in the NFL, he would have had more success as a HC in Miami with gained experience at this level. I have no shame admitting that I trusted Saban, that's a normal feeling that fans get when they have faith in the directions a team is heading. He was a good HC for us, and he was responsible for drafting / adding a lot of our current starters....

Just what I need, a creepy uncle named Jack. I'll pass....

    IN TUNA WE TRUST!!!....

Oh,i meant a 1 successful playoff year, and then done. As for this year,of course i would love a shot. You never know what can happen.
The jets beat the Jets yesterday. the Dolphins did nothing but sit there and let it happen. Vs a good team,The Dolphins score only 7 yesterday as Chad 2nd TD pass would have been picked. The 1st one was a great throw.

I've already said in another thread that, hey,at least the Dolphins beat the bad teams on the schedule.

I still stick to what i said. Your Phins got to where they are by some trickery and suprises. Won't happen next year. Chad is a decent QB and i was a big fan of his,but once he is figured out,he goes nowhere.

I don't think they Jets will dominate anything next year,at this point. But ,don't fool yourself as if the Dolphins are some new found powerhouse, they are extremely lucky to be where they are right now.

I'm really surprised that I am the only one on this board that feels this way.

Is there not a learning curve at YOUR job? Why can't we accept that NFL head coaches need learning curves, as well?

Maybe I feel differently because I am starting a coaching career and I greatly sympathize with how difficult it is to be a head coach, but we as fans need to change the way that we think about this team.

I'm telling you that it takes time to learn how to be a good coach, just as it takes time to really get the hang of any job that is challenging. There are people who are not made to be head coaches, but you can't possibly figure that out within 3 seasons.

I think it had more to do with the last 5 games. We had this season ,just needed to win atleast 2 games vs bad teams. Instead,Favre plays like crap, and defense fails to get to QB. Hell,we were extremely lucky to not blow it in New England.

I'm sorry, I don't get how you fire a head coach because of a bad 5 game stretch. He at least deserved another year.

No matter who is brought in, even Cowher, fans and the media won't have the patience for a coach to actually feel comfortable in his situation.

You aren't alone. I happen to agree with almost everything you have written in this thread. I am going to repost something that I have posted twice already in the last six weeks because it very accuarately reflects my thoughts on why I believe firing Mangini was a mistake:

I personally think it's utterly ridiculous to be talking about replacing Mangini . . . EVEN IF WE MISS THE PLAYOFFS. I know most of you would probably disagree with me but I have always believed that NFL teams (and sports teams in general) are far too impatient with coaches. If the Titans were ever as impatient as many people want the Jets to be with Mangini, Jeff Fisher would have been fired MULTIPLE times throughout his lengthy tenure as Head coach in Tennessee. I believe in letting a coach (especially a young coach) grow with the front office for 5 or 6 seasons. I think a lot of coaches just need a few years to get a handle on the job and what it takes to lead NFL teams to victory. A classic example of this is none other than Bill Belicheat. He was widely considered to be a mediocre head coach during his first stint in Cleveland. EVERYBODY said that he was a defensive genius who was made to be a lifelong defensive coordinator in the NFL. After four seasons, Cleveland got impatient with him (he had compiled a 36-44 record with only one playoff appearance - Interestingly enough, this would be very similar to Mangini's first few years as coach if we fired him after this season, except that Mangini's record would be CLOSER to .500) and let him go. We all know how well he did when he got another shot . . .

If the team is 8-3 with a div title in their hands, and he fails to motivate the team to win more than 1 out of 5,he should be canned. I also think there is more, like maybe the players were just not responding to him anymore. Maybe some took it to management.

I think this was a huge mistake. If Favre and Sutton aren't gone this firing was pointless.

Totally agree favre killed this team and destroyed the foundation that mangini had built over two years. I cannot for the life of me figure out why tanenbumb even spoke the words "as an organization we want brett back" He is out of his fucking mind if he wants favre to return to this team. PLEASE do not bring favre back to this team. It will be an even worse decision than bringing him here in the first place.

We were 4-12 last year, spent $140 Million in the offseason, and we went 9-7 this year. Mangini barely has a .500 record here.

I also think there is more under the surface than we're privy to at this time. I would not be at all surprised to learn in the coming weeks of a lot of discontent in the locker room... lack of passion, lack of ability to motivate for game day, lack of good judgement (playcalling) on game day, etc. Talented people who were basically handcuffed.

There's a good possibility that Tannenbaum is echoing Woody's sentiment on Favre, even though he knows the guy made a lot of mistakes... a lot of them. But Woody needs to sell the rest of his expensive PSLs, and the only way to do that is to have a calling card... some flash. A coach with flash. A QB with flamboyancy and flash. Favre is that QB. He's also the ticket to selling the much maligned PSLs.

Positive about Firing: Patriot Mimicry is over

Negative about Firing: Mangini was only 37, still the youngest coach in the league with two out of three winning seasons.
