What did you see in Favre, especially in the december, to make you want this guy back?!?!

Its simple. Kellen Clemens plays until October 15th, then Favre can come in as if its September and play well all the way through the end of the season. Oh of course Favre would start each game for one play then sit for Clemens.

Because he improved out record by 6. I've never wanted to have to say that, but I wanted to lay it down, plain and simple.

I just don't see how a 40 year old guy is going to get better at this point.

He got better between 2004 and 2007, so yes he can get better.

agree. watching favre "lead" our drives these last few games was a horrific experience. i could scarcely imagine having less confidence in what our QB was going to do when he got the ball.

The saying that I think holds true in football is that it's better to get rid of an aging player one year too early than one year too late. With a full year of OTA's and consistent training Favre might improve, but the odds IMHO are against it. With a new coach I'd rather the Jets look to the future at QB rather than the past.

Neither QB is ready to take over the team.. I think if he does come back next year he will play better..

If Favre retired, we stuck with the QBs we got, then one or more of them went down and/or was ineffective, then I would be in favor of bringing him in. Otherwise this season has showed that he can't go a full season.

I'd rather take a "lost" season where a young QB gets a chance to play and improve than another season like this one with Favre at the helm.

Yeah but their not going to do that.. The want a winning team going into a new stadium.. They don't want a rebuilding team.. They know they can't get buts in seats without a winning team..

We can get better by next year, and hopefully make it through December., so I took the liberty of removing it. Hopefully this is what you'll be saying after next season.

I think he is just our best option..At 39 I think he is still better than Clemens or Ratliff..I still think he brings those intangibles to a team that others cant..I wold be willing to write this year off and give him one more...I think the team believes in him when they are in the huddle

He wasn't 40 then. He will be next September. Your body ages and cannot do things as well as you get older. A lot of the issues Brett had down the stretch were due to wearing down. That's going to happen again, maybe even a little earlier next year.

" i could scarcely imagine having less confidence in what our QB was going to do when he got the ball."

No one remembers Brooks Bollinger? Honestly? Even at his worst, Favre never made me feel as bad as I did watching that Ravens game a few years back.

The thing that Favre brought was confidence and swagger. He gave the team the feeling that you were never out of a game, that the hall of famer would always give you a chance. Favre brought the ability to have a dynamic offense in games like Arizona, St. Louis and others, where our offense was on fire and we were throwing the ball down and around the field with authority instead of having to play-action our way to another 7 yard pass on 3rd and 9.

If you can close your eyes and believe that he can find that form again, pulling a great year out of his ass the same way Mussina did for the Yankees in 2008...bringing him back makes sense. It's a win-now team, he's the best win-now QB you have...sounds almost reasonable. With a full offseason to both heal, and get in (ahem) shape for the season, with a full offseason to learn the (new) offense, you could paint a scenario where we get a good 3rd WR and Favre blossoms under 40 pt a game Martyball.

Only, you have to be somewhat crazy to believe in that scenario. But, you'd have had to have been nuts to think Mussina would win 20 games also. It does happen, but that doesn't mean it will happen.

Woody is thinking it's possible, or, at least he's lying and saying he thinks it's possible because he needs your money. Either way, that is this year's off season Kool Aid.

Drink it at your own risk.

With Chad, it would have been another year of those "18 for 25, 189 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT" games where we score 16 points and white knuckle it into the 4th quarter waiting to give up a score our offense couldn't respond to. Favre or not, no one wants to go back to the painfully slow and boring 17 play drives that we used to have under Chad. Remember when scoring a touchdown in that offense took 5 or 6 consecutive 3rd down conversions to get into the red zone? Favre gave you a glimpse into an offense that was better than that. I don't hate on people for wanting that offense, but I do agree that Favre is no longer be able to get us to that promised land.
