I just heard an interview with him on the FAN, and it sounds like he's real itching to get back into the show.

He was pretty consistent as a HC for the Ravens and kept that defense though he was an Offensive minded coach. Experience, drive, and consistancy is what we need and he has it all.

    Why the hell not?

no thanks...for an offensive minded coach...his "offense" was quite anemic in Balt.

He has a proven record and a Super Bowl ring. He was doing something right.

i was going thru rich camini chat responses...and his response to one such query was that billick has an ego the size of north dakota....maybe that's the reason owners/gm's are staying away from him.

so now we are looking for coaches with no egos? good luck. The best coaches are often the biggest jerks - just look at bellichik.

one of the glaring problems that has plagued the NY Jets over the last few seasons has been the QB position....why the fuck would you want to bring in a guy who viewed Kyle Boller as a starting QB in this league?! With our luck...he'd sign Boller!!

    BIG PASS!!

Can somebody name a Jets coach that had an ego? Parcells is the only one I can think of. Mangini, Herm,Groh, Carroll, Kotite, Walton, Coslet. They all failed because they had an ego?

The ego thing doesn't make sense to me. I'd love to have an arrogant prick as a coach.

I can understand being skittish on Billick because of his poor QB record, but the guy is a proven winner. If that's his only issue, we can find a way around it.

    if anything...he should be a "last-minute" candidate...not a front-runner. I'd even take Martyball over this guy.

Billick is a product of how good his defense was in Baltimore....for a supposed "offensive genius"...it sure didn't show during his time with the Ravens.

Well, at least admit that Billick is the type of coach that utilizes his team's strengths to full effect, which is essentially how he was able to win so much.

A polar opposite of Mangini, who somehow managed to make everyone on our team look like second-stringers.

i suggested this last week and everyone hates the idea....i dont know why...i think he would work out well...billick with a strong defensive coordinator which is definitly possibly due to his ties with BALT would be a great move....

Yeah, we're all screaming for a proven winner yet we bash everyone that's available. Cowher isn't the only quality coach out there.

    i dont get it...

people are like...no to shanahan no to billick...

    YES TO SPAGS

lol then they turn around and say we need a winner lol

    it makes no sense...

people on this board talk out of both sides of their mouths..

for most of the last 5 weeks everyone says FIRE MANGINA...then hes fired and people say...why did we fire him????

it makes no sense this board is seriously backwards sometimes lol

Billick was supposed to be this offensive guru when he became the Raven's HC..after his stint with the Vikes. When Billick took over...the offense wasn't exactly a juggernaut and the QB he drafted (Boller) was garbage. He did win a Super Bowl, so i'll concede that....but we all know that was on the "D".

How would you feel if Shanahan (another legendary offensive mind) was hired for the Jets' HC position...and the offense sputtered during his tenure....wouldn't that cause you to have a skewed image of Shanahan? Despite what the general population thinks.

That's how i feel about Billick.....i can't see how this guy can be viewed as an offensive genius when he had 8 years or so in Baltimore...with less than adequate offenses. I would prefer NOT to see this guy get hired for the position....but in fairness, there are worse candidates. Billick just isn't a front-runner, IMO.

Billick isn't in the top 5 or 10 for sure. There are too many good options out there.
