Heres part of an article from the jets site showing some good reasons for jets to take Jerious Norwood in 4th round - The better choice for the Jets might be Norwood, who also lacks bulk but has the frame to add size and may also be the fastest back in the class. He was a feature back in '05 and is one of the more intriguing prospects in this class. He impressed scouts at the Senior Bowl with his willingness to run inside, play physical and gain the tough yards. He is an aggressive runner who attacks the hole, will fight for yards and break tackles. In the open field, he shows good hands, can make defenders miss, and has home run speed.
wow, i've been saying this for weeks!!! i think he would be a great pick with our 3rd comp or 4th round
Wow someone read my mind.... I was thinking of going RB rnd 4 and after(unless white fell to 2nd or Addai to the 3rd) yep at 4 I would take this guy I like his size/speed combination
I'd first like to consult someone who has actually seen him play before declaring that he should be the Jets future runningback. If he ran a 4.5 I can guarantee this thread wouldn't have happened. I myself haven't seen him play so I can't judge him, but Mississippi State didn't have any games on ABC, NBC or CBS. So I really doubt anyone can tell me what he's like in a game situation.
I have seen him play. Is he our future starter probably not but he is probably better than Houston. But tell me what 4th rnder is a future starter? I think he has potential. He did have one game on CBS this yr in Philly area. Last yr he had atleast 2(but I think he splitted carries, what college team doesnt split carries. look at Addai he started in less than half the games he has played in but that means nothing) Norwood I think is the 6th best RB in this draft.
heres some highlights of his 05 season http://video.msn.com/v/us/v.htm?g=b323364f-b7a4-4102-9744-6f6e280c3703&f=rss33
and by future rb i meant in a couple years. i believe he might have the skill set to develop into or future back(down the line). and is prolly worth the risk of a 4th round pik, especially when ive noticed some see him as a possible late 3rd rounder.
I'd really like to know what his strengths and weaknesses are according to people who claim to have seen him play. And all highlight reels make the players look like All-American's, no matter what sport.
He is probably more of a 3rd down back if he fails oh well but positives speed, can catch out of the backfield, break takles(he is a great yardage after touch guy), from scouting reports he is a good worker(just depends on what you read) negatives: size, cant block at best he can be a Westbrook(he was a 3rd) which is pretty good and would be a 1st after that draft if it took place now at worst at 4th rnd pick....you can fill it we have 3 rb's Martin, Blalock, Houston... so its not a really a need unless someone falls hard
has all the tools and if he can hit the weight room and gain lets say 10-15 pounds, i like his chances to devolop under C-Mart into a special player.
I would absoultely support takin him in a later round. He is fast as hell and we can get him late. Taht said, Addai is faster and could still be taken in round 3.
Anybody whos seen Norwood play knows hed be a great pick. One of those players who you see, and think theyre going to be a first round pick someday... and then nobody talks about them come draft time. If the Jets dont snag a halfback earlier, Id love to see them get Norwood in the third round. Like some others have said, he may or may not develop into a full-time workhorse back, but hes got the tools to be a solid addition to the backfield.
http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/players/playerpage/417822 his stats suck against big schools
