will be named in the next few days correct? I like his schemes but the one thing that scares me is do the Jets have the players? By that I mean the guys with the right attitudes to run it. When you watch Ray Lewis and Ed Reed they play every play like they will never get another. The Jets dont have any guys like that do they? I mean they have some nice players but I dont ever recall the emotion that we just saw by both the Ravens and Steelers. To have a dominate defense you need the ATTITUDE.
He has the schemes, he's got some good players, and he knows how to get the right players. It won't happen overnight, but I do believe the defense has a chance to become dominant under him. Hopefully, he does sign with the Jets soon.
I belive Revis plays with that emotion... Jenkins is a big piece to have.. we have players, we just need to fill the gaps in a few position and have more team speed...
Bart Scott is considerably younger than Ray Lewis....and i would rather bring someone in long term....not somebody who's in the twilight of their career. We tried that last year with Favre.
I think having Ryan at the Jets would help Gholston immensely. The way Rex utilises players' strengths at multiple positions, like Ngata and Suggs, should mean that he'll be able to specialize Gholston's abilities to a certain position and situations so that he's not completely useless.
Your worry is not necessary. It is common knowledge that this defense has talent on it. Revis, Jenkins, Harris, to an extent Rhodes, and Pace are major players. If they can develope Gholston, and add a couple more pieces via draft/FA we can have a top D. Offense is a mess but atleast the oline is solid, that's always the first step towards winning. MBGreen that is a wicked rack on that brod avatar of the year.
And hopefully that will be to an even further extent if he brings his OLB coach along to the Jets as DC.
If I had been sitting at the interview table with Tanny, Woody, and Rex, this is exactly what I would have asked him: "Rex, if you were hired, what would you do to make Gholston into an impact player in 2009?"
it was reported on wfan during an interview with Jay Glazer, that one of the big things in the interview was Ryan saying, " I can do with this kid what I did with suggs"
WHat he said that????? OMG Thats great I love that confidence, this is the guy I wanted since the Seattle game. Man MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONEEEEEEE hahahaha
wow even if some like random dude of the street said that I would hire him also in regards to this whole attitude thing we do need attitude thats what hurt us down the stretch we became to mangini-bot like with no emotions what so ever. Once we get some fire then leaders will emerge, we can see people who direct that attitude towards improving there team mates
yeah I couldnt believe it when I was listening to the interview it shows he was not bsing when he said his system puts the players in the right places when he was asked about Reed's play this year.
