I wonder how the Jets brass would say to this question. Pennington is signed longer than anyone else on the Jets right now, and they surrendered a draft pick to secure Pennington with another troubled QB in Patrick Ramsey. The re-signing of Pennington, and the aquistion of Ramsey tells me the Jets aren't looking quarterback in the 06 draft. On top of that, I was reading an article recently, that really caught my attention. It was about how the Jets have mimic'd the Patriots blueprint for success. It showed the first overall picks of the Patriots over the past 6 seasons, and coincidently, their past 6 first roats_suck: und picks have been spent on lineman, offensive or defensive. The combination of the 2 quarterbacks already on the roster, and the fact that the Jets are trying to be the Mini-Patriots, almost guarantees that they'll end up with either D'Brickishaw Ferguson or Mario Williams come draft day.:hackett:
Someone left this link on the message board, and thats what i was going by. i know they restructured the contract, and i thought it was shortened, but this site was left by "the most knowledgable poster on the baord" in 2005 so i took it as the truth lol. http://www.wissearch.net/jets/default.aspx
Only the media claims the Jets want to be the "mini" Patriots. In reality, the Jets just want to win, and we don't really know what their model is. We can only claim it's going to be Belichick style, but Mangini did talk to Pete Caroll as well so it could be a Caroll style too...
I'd love to see Chad coming back, but unfortunately I don't think he can overcome his injury. I think the injury didn't broke his will, but his shoulder will probably never be the same.
I trust that he truely Loves the Jets, and that he believes that he can come back and be the Chad of old. Unfortunately, I don't think that it is a realistic possibility.
If Chad is healthy, I trust him completely. Like everyone else, I highly doubt he ca ever be 100% healthy again.
Uhh... not if he's on the bench with a busted ankle, shoulder, or wrist there bud. Chances are, that's where we'll see him. But, if he comes back somehow, we're set for another 4 or 5 years.
Not if that rookie is Jay Cutler! To the starter of this thread, I agree with you that we have given up a pick for Ramsey and Pennington is here again. But that doesn't mean we won't go QB in this draft. We don't have to draft a QB who will come in right away. If we draft Leinart or Cutler (I won't be alive for the 07 season if we pick VY) they will most likely play like Eli Manning did his first year; work him in there slowly and carefully. That means Penny gets one more chance, and Ramsey basically rides pine as a back up.
I would love Chad to come back as strong as ever -- and I do trust him and if he does play next season everytime he goes down we will all hold our breaths -- which wont be good for our stomachs --
Trust has nothing to do with it. Can he make the throws? Does he have the arm strength and accuracy? It would be great if Chad could come back to the starter role, but I see it as very doubtful given the severity of the injury.
