http://www.bostonherald.com/news/na...h_second-degree_lynching/srvc=home&position=6 The wife of New England Patriots [team stats] defensive lineman Richard Seymour [stats] was arrested yesterday in South Carolina on charges of lynching, which is akin to group fighting, stemming from an altercation at a New Year?s Eve party. Tanya L. Seymour, 27, a mom of three, was arrested in Columbia, S.C., where she and her husband live in the off-season, and charged with two counts of second-degree lynching, according to Richland County criminal court records. She appeared in a Richland County courtroom yesterday and was released after posting bond, according to the court records. Attempts to reach Seymour at the Gadsden, S.C., home she shares with Richard Seymour, who won three Superbowls with the Patriots, were unsuccessful. Seymour is charged in connection with an assault on two people at a New Year?s Eve party on Fontana Drive in Columbia, S.C., the Columbia, S.C., TV station WLTX is reporting. The alleged victims, who told police they were invited to the party, were involved in a ?verbal altercation? with a group of people at the party, the station reported. The two alleged victims told police they were ?jumped? by a group of people and assaulted sometime after 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 1. One of the alleged victims suffered a sprained wrist in assault, the station reported. Richland County sheriff?s office public information officers did not return multiple messages left this morning. Second-degree lynching is defined as ?any act of violence inflicted by a mob upon the body of another person and from which death does not result,? according to South Carolina law. Richard Seymour grew up in the Columbia, S.C., area. He was a standout lineman and team captain on the football team for Lower Richland High School in Hopkins, S.C., according to the Patriots team Web site. The Seymours have three children, according to the Web site.
I think it falls under 'lynching' because it's mob-related (?). I also heard it was 2nd degree lynching because the person attacked is still alive. Well, that's a start. Still, yeesh. It IS exactly what comes to everyone's mind. I wonder if Tanya Seymour tried to poke her in the eye...?
Wow. More class from the Pats*. Let's review some lowlights from the last decade: Harrison's HGH, Nick Kazcur's snitching, Dave Meggett's sexual assault, Daniel Via's recent arrest for child rape and now, a "second degree lynching" charge against Seymour's wife. Yep, no taint or tarnish at all on those three "Championships."
Outside of the Harrison thing none of those incidents have anything to do with the Patriots franchise, more to do with those peoples' personal lives. Also, Meggett played for the Jets. Harrison, though, completely got away with the steroid thing. No one in the media ever bashes him for it, and they still praise him as one of the 'classiest' which is assinine.
The Patriot franchise/management/coaches, at one time or another, concluded that all (excepting Seymour's wife, natch) of those guys were worthy of wearing the Pats uniform and representing the team as players. In sum, they are all scumbags, and all played for the Pats. Funny, though, how the NFL/Pats works to keep Brady as the face of the franchise rather than the rest of these losers. BTW, Ty Law was busted for drugs as well. He was a Pat then and later played for the Jets, just like Meggett.
