If they're going to draft a future franchise QB, they need to identify their top target and then do whatever it takes to land him. What they should not do is draft a project in the 3rd round and hope he works out.

We don't need to get one of those guys. It'd be nice if one of them fell to 17 but if they're not worth sacrificing everything else for then why do it? Juice has gotta be worth the squeeze.

If you want to be taken seriously, don't capitalize the every word in a sentence like its the title of a book.

Posters like you would be the first to crucify the Jets for "reaching for a QB in Sanchez who didnt have enough college experience" if he didn't pan out. If I'm going to blow my load for a QB, I better be damn sure he's going to be franchise guy. And right now I'm not that sold on either of those prospects.

I bet you wanted Leinhart over Cutler too.
There is no such thing as 100% sure.

Based on your opinion, how would you declare a college QB coming into the NFL a franchise QB?

I'm becoming increasingly interested in Freeman for the 1st round.

We could fix our CB or Safety problem in the 2nd with Macho/Mickens/Sean Smith/Patrick Chung.

Nope, I liked Cutler and felt like the right move was to take Brick at 4 and try and trade back up for Cutler. It would've come at the expensive of Mangold who I love but I felt they played that draft correctly.

I'm not a Sanchez fan. I think in his limited amount of playing time the biggest thing he had going for him was the talent around him. He played on a vastly more talented team then his opponents and I felt got in bad habits of not reading defenses and if a guy was covered making the throw anyway. I've said it more in the draft forum but I feel QB's who play on excellent college teams don't do as well in the NFL.

If there was a franchise QB out there then yes, I would go after him. I don't feel like there is one in this draft other then Stafford who reminds me alot of Cutler. So with that, not only would I not want to draft a player like Sanchez who I have alot of questions about but certainly would not trade up for him.

I like Sanchez I think if he is there at 17 we should take him we may be lucky that he came out this year because if he stayed another year we would have no shot to get him. I think with Favre gone & with us cutting Barrett we will have the money to get a MLB, Saftey & a Corner in free agency. In the draft we can take the best player & not worry about position in a perfect world we would fix the D in free agency & get a QB 1st round & a WR 2nd round.

Hunter Cantwell would appeal to some of the dyslexic Jets fans.

at this point put me down for freeman at the bottom of R1....

some previous posts are correct in pointing out about cutler and flacco. jets just couldn't get it done and likely will not be denied the 3rd try.

I would rather has Erin Aigne as our starter than draft one of these guys.

Exactly. This draft plain SUX for QB's. Clemens is more than capable of playing QB in this league and should be given his shot. This draft is excellent in OL which the Jets don't really need, decent in linebackers (possible good choice) and has a few game-breaking type receivers. If I were to choose, obviously Crabtree won't fall far enough, but there are still Maclin and Harvin which could turn out to be extremely explosive players. Coles and Cotchery do not strike fear in team's secondaries...

I would take Freeman if he was there in the 2nd round... but he won't be... or at least the Combine will decide that. Anyways I think we'll draft WR,LB,CB,NT,QB,S,P or RB i don't know in what order....

Lets not get carried away here. I understand your point but saying you'd rather Ainge then Stafford or Sanchez just isn't an intelligent comment. And i'm not a big fan of Freeman either. Drafting a project QB isn't what this team needs.

I think you quoted the wrong guy. In my post I didn't even suggest Ainge should be the guy. I also didn't bring up Freeman. For than matter my whole point was that the Jets SHOULD NOT draft a QB this year because this years QB draft pool is terrible. The jets should draft Percy Harvin in my opinion. Maybe Maclin.
