From the sound of that interview, you could bet with one of the Jets day one picks Kellon Clemons name will be called..I know it doesn't really mean anything but it was an interesting interview nonetheless. FOr anyone who didn't hearr the interview, he said the Jets were by far his most intense meeting out of about 10 other teams he has met with. Now I don't think that gaurantees we take him at some point but I do think it says alot about our FO. Anyway I was very impressed with his interview and if we don't go QB round one, he is gonna be the guy they target for the future.
I'd be more concerned with the teams he didn't talk to. That being said if you think you can find a diamon in the rough and hes there in the 4th you take him. Question is do you take him in the third?
I would say if we don't get one of the top 3 Qbs, Clemons will be our first third round pick..If he is available.
I don't really like the sounds of Clemens...go to nfldraftcountdown.com and look at his review....its terrible
Still its one opinion. I also like that site for looking at prospects but I don't know I guess its just an intuition thing.
I think the biggest worry with him is his size.. Sounds like he has an NFL arm and the intangibles it takes to be a top QB. He's listed at 6'1, now is he closer to 6'0 or 6'2 which is a pretty big difference for a QB.
For what his opinion is worth, Kiper has Clemens going in the 2nd Rd. at #48 to Minnesota. So he may not be around to draft in the early 3rd or the 4th.
You can't trust QBs from Oregon. Not even because of Harrington, the entire offense is based solely on a strict system. It's hard to judge Clemens because of that. I wouldn't be real happy if we took him anywhere before the 4th round, and even then I would have my doubts.
Yeah that wouldn't surprise me one bit.. I guess thats a chance we are gonna have to take. We can't take him at 35. Hopefully we walk out of the first with Leinart or Cutler and then its moot.. I would bet though that he is our first 3rd rounder if available and we didn't address Qb already..
Agreed. I am not a big fan of Kellen Clemens or Charlie Whitehurst, although for different reasons. Still either one of those two would hopefully be an upgrade over "Brooksy" Bollinger. My preference would be for a healthy Brodie Croyle or Omar Jacobs as early as the second or somewhere in the third. I don't think the Jets would be targeting Clemens until the end of the third or the begining of the second day but you never know with how secretive things have been recently.
If Whitehurst and Croyle are off the board at 71 then at 97 or 103 I say why not take a shot with Clemons? He has a hell of an arm and has moved up the draft board considerably in recent weeks. He'd be a good 2 year project to sit behind Ramsey for a season and in 07 either be thrown into the fire or re-sign Ramsey and give him some more time.
Clemons is really not a great player. He's got no mobility, no arm strength and is not even a really cerebral quarterback. He must be a workout warrior or something because I can't understand why he's moving up the charts so rapidly.
