When I look at who was the greatest I put the most weight in how they did during their primes otherwise I think there is too much weight on who lasts longer which is why I think that either Jim Brown or Barry Sanders were better than Emmitt Smith and why I think Pedro is better than Maddux, etc. And personally I think that Griffey's prime was slightly better than Bonds' prime. And while there is an argument for Ricky I don't think it is a good enough one against Griffey
To each his own I guess, I just don't see how Griff's production can compare to anything Bonds did over those 10 seasons.
My case for Griffey is that he was the talented all around player in the last 20 years. You can make a genuine case for Bonds being the best player of the last 20 years though (better than ARod).
I rank Barroid as the best of the past 20 years. Former Yankee great Dan Pasqua also deserves to be in the mix here.
Willie Mays said his self that Griffey was something like him...Griffey was great ecspecially in his prime he could do it all....who at the time could play defense like Griffey???? No one....Griffey used one of the lightest bats in baseball, I think behind Tony Gwynn....Griffey was great man, it really is a shame he had to deal with all those injuries...and he had a pretty decent yr recently were he was healthy for most of the season....and I don't know Griffey was puttin up numbers and he was skinny...Greatest in the past 20 yrs if he was healthy for the past 6 season you would all agree....
Sure, most likely he did juice, but until the guy A) admits that he did B) gets caught with concrete evidence it's going to be awfully hard to take away his numbers and accomplishments, he falls in the group with the rest of the players like Griffey... which in turn keeps him in the argument for best player of the past 20 years. I really don't envy the guys that are going to have to vote on the steroid era players going in the the HOF... they're damned if they do and damned if they don't and I guess in some ways they put themselves in that situation for not blowing the whistle on this stuff sooner.
Derek Jeter is the best player of the last 20 years. You can't argue with his production at the game's most important position and we're not going to really appreciate what he has done until he goes by Robin Yount for most hits by a SS in about 4 seasons.
Pitcher is the game's most important position, and Jeter doesn't crack the top 10 of the last 20 years.
How can anybody say anybody did it without the juice when there is still AT LEAST 103 names out there we haven't heard? And that is only 103 that just happened to be unlucky enough to be tested on the wrong day. What about the others? What about the isers of HGH like Bonds where there is no urine test that will detect it? They are all guilty.
almost as bad as the time you posted that Brett Favre didn't look happy enough on the sidelines during a preseason game
The question is not whether Bonds juiced. That has been proven. The question is whether he knew what he was taking. He thought it was flaxseed oil, remember?
The real question is whether or not Anderson's name will appear on the list when UBS gives up the names and if so for how much.
