JETS EMERGE AS FAVORITE FOR BART SCOTT Posted by Mike Florio on February 27, 2009, 2:23 a.m. http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/ There are conflicting reports as to the first destination of free-agent Ravens linebacker Bart Scott. Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com reported that Scott will visit with the Rams. Albert Breer of SportingNews.com reports that Scott will visit with the Jets. Breer also reports that the Jets are the ?early favorite? to sign Scott. In New York, Scott would be reuinted with his former defensive coordinator in Baltimore, Rex Ryan. Ryan is now the head coach of the Jets.
Doesn't matter if he visits the Rams or Jets first, he is not going to sign with the Rams before hearing what the Jets have to say anyway.
He is meeting with the Jets tomorrow morning. Scott will meet with the Jets before the Rams http://blogs.trb.com/sports/football/jets/blog/2009/02/scott_on_the_market.html
Bart Scott to the Jets is as much of a certainty as it gets in FA. The hard part was getting him to FA, now that he is there it is a lock.
seems to be the case... why not play with the scheme he's been with since he got drafted? he'll love it here.
I would say that Jim Leonhard is more of a lock than Bart Scott. I would say Leonhard is almost a guarentee. However, Bart Scott was/is in serious negotiations with Baltimore and said he would give them the oppotunity to sign him first. Kind of off topic- But Erik Boland is updating his blog as soon as news comes in. He has a comment section and actually replies to everybody's questions/comments.
While I'm very happy to read this, I could easily see Scott negotiating with other teams mearly to drive up his price with the Ravens. I hope we give him an offer he can't refuse though.
I would say they are both locks. If he was going to sign with the Ravens he would have done so already. Jets are his first choice now and he is the Jets first choice and we have plenty of cap room. Done deal IMO. Erik Boland is the man.
All this talk about Jim Leonhard coming to the Jets, I personally haven't seen him play. Is he going to be an upgrade?...from what I've heard he's okay and looks better because he played with Ed Reed, but that he improved a great deal throughout the season and did well in the playoffs (which i do remember a little).
