Too much concern over this guy. He is good, but being overhyped I believe. And by overhyped, I mean having 10 threads about him. http://www.nfl.com/players/jimleonhard/careerstats?id=LEO708542
LOL... it does not matter he is better than what we had last year and for a while we were ranked 4th in defense last year.
I'm nervous about this possibly signing. the hype around him is through the roof, is he actually this good? Im not saying he isn't good, but does anyone really know anything about him other than the few highlights seen last year when he was with Baltimore?
I haven't seen anyone call him a star. He's a smart, tough, athletic safety, but he lacks height and great straight-line speed. He's a good player, and Rex Ryan likes him. Don't expect a Pro Bowler, but he should be an upgrade.
According to Cannizaro, they ate at Smith & Wollensky where Leonhard enjoyed a Cesar Salad [ugh] dripping with dressing and covered in decadent parmigiano and croutons. The soup was a creamy mushroom cream bisque drizzled with a port wine reduction. For the main course, Leonhard ordered a 20 oz. porterhouse with a side of garlic mashed potatoes and steamed asparagus, pairing it with a pint of Great Leaks Dortmunder Gold lager. Oh, and they were talking about football or something.
im happy we have scott, lito, and moore, all we need is a safety. jim can be an upgrade he knows the system we are going to be in, remember he played next to ed reed, reed takes the light off anyone.
That what im assuming also. Just makes me a Little nervous. Im one of those people who believes Lowery should be giving a shot at safety. Im curios to see what kind of money the jets are willing to throw his way.
I doubt the hype on this board for him is going to make an impact on the negotiation process. Rex Ryan knows exactly how good Leonhard can be and Tannenbaum has a good idea of what he is worth on the market. That is all that is going to go into it.
When you get a guy who knows the system and is loved by his old DC, he will be productive.... if Ryan can turn Rhodes into a poor man's Ed Reed like I know he can, then Leonhard will be fine in our system. He isn't getting 5-6 million a year... more like 2-3. He's a cheap signing.
if your argument is his stats i wouldn't use that... and the only over hyping is the guarantee that he is signing here.
apparently he used 27 sheets of toilet paper. He is also a folding kind of guy rather than your typical ball maker. Schefter said this is one reason why he is a fan favorite
i don't necessarily agree with this... espn said he IS ball type of guy and that's what rex is looking for
