2 round + Jones + Thomas and next year they give us back a 3 a 4 or a 5 according to how many balls he drops!!! That would be a nice trade. This way we get Moreno or Wells in the first round. I know it's just fantasy but i think it would be a fair offer...
if the Jets aren't planning on taking a WR in the first round, it doesn't matter how much better he is than any other WR in the draft, they don't want to spend a first on that position. everyone seems willing to jettison our first rounder for a player, but how often to player trades involve a first round pick? it seems the team trading the pick always has the leverage and doesn't have to offer a first because the team with the player generally wants to get rid of the player and doesn't have as much leverage.

I'm not sure why hes not worth more than a 4th or 3rd round pick plus bryan thomas. Bryan Thomas has done nothing for us but drain our cap. Braylon Edwards was a pro bowler, and grabbed 16 td catches in 2007 + 1300 yards receiving...so he definitely has it in him to make an impact on our roster, more than any receiver we would pick up in the second round would do. Yeah he drops alot of passes, but we can work with him on that. Now that Coles is again, we need a guy who can find the end zone, and Braylon obviously can. In his last seasons at Michigan the guy had over 10 td's and over 1,000 yards in each of those 3 seasons. the guy had one bad season, and everybody forgets what the guy has done, or what he's capable of doing. From this board, I've heard a lot of people talk about getting a guy whos strong and has a big frame, well Braylon is 6 foot 3. He did have a bad season this past year, for whatever reasons, but the guy has found the endzone before , so maybe a different system can get edwards to reach his potential. He's a past probowler not to long ago, so he obviously has it in him .
Man, where do you find all these off the wall stats? Impressive.... With that said, there is no denying he drops his fair share of passes, but he still is a very good receiver and has big play ability. It has to be a lack of concentration, and a swift kick in the ass could fix that. I've seen him make a ton of great catches, namely that one handed snag in the preseason last year against us for a TD. Also, there are alot of really good WR's on that list....
This is true, he does drop a lot of passes, and it is certainly a huge concern. But I would have to jot it up to loss of concentration, cause he's certainly made his share of circus catches. I would assume that if he dropped more than 10 passes B. Scott would just feed him to his dogs. You guys are right, not many players get traded for a 1st... so I shouldn't be throwing a 1st out there like that... but I would certainly entertain a 2nd + B. Thomas... only reason I'm throwing B. Thomas like that is due to the other unsubstantiated rumor involving Kinawuka... looks like Mangini needs a LBer, and B. Thomas is the only guy I'd be willing to part with.
as for the drops list...yeah the drops are definitely a concern, but at least half of those wide receivers, including running backs like westbrook, i would LOVE to have as jets players. Half of those players, are essential pieces to their offense, and make a considerable impact in the receiving game despite the dropped passes.
What the hell? u wanna give up a first for Edward? He's had just one thousand yard season in his short career. Not only a first, u wanna give up a starting LB? Get out of here.
Edwards does drop his fair share of passes...and didn't have a stellar season this past year.....but the year before, he caught 16 TD's, 1,289 Receiving yards, has breakaway speed and is 6'3 (he gives us the tall endzone target we've been pining for the last couple of seasons). The guy is no slouch....and the dropped passes is "coachable", IMO. I wouldn't mind having him playing for the Jets. just my .02
He's absolutely a big play guy with a ton of talent. When you look at the great receivers on the list though, notice the big discrepancy in the drops/reception. The closest great receiver to him has been TO who has been declining rapidly and dropping a lot of balls. I wouldn't cry if we got him but I would be if he dropped a few crucial passes.
exactly...a short career. Don't forget last year, the quarter back situation was awful in Clevelend, and Derek Anderson got benched for Brady Quinn, which wasn't any better. Kellen Winslow is a great tight end with a lot of potential who had over 1000 yards in 2007, and when he played before the staff infection in 2008, had very little production. As for bryan thomas...c'mon. We could grab a ton of cheaper OLB options, or even address one in the draft that would have more of an impact in our defense than Bryan Thomas. I would give practically give him away just like we did with DRob. The guy is a cap burden, who has never lived up to his potential.
Another dumb one....Bryan Thomas has started 45 out of the last 48 games. I suppose thats not a stretch.....
Just cause he started for US doesn't mean he's starting material. This guy has had ONE good season, that's it. Maybe Rex Ryan can light a fire under his ass again but I won't hold my breath. He's a very insignificant piece of our defense and I don't think we'd miss a beat if we got rid of him and drafted a replacement... in fact it would probably be for the best.
Im not a fan of Bryan Thomas. I want him replaced immediately. But that doesn't mean we ditch him. He is a cap burden but releasing him will leave us a lot of deadmoney...not exactly how you get out of it. Maybe we release him next yr. As for Edwards, an elite WR will produce yr after yr. He had Anderson as QB for half the season but didn't do as good as the yr before. He is not good enough to give up a first, a starting OLB along with his $3.2 mil deadmoney...just not worth Maybe a second and thats it...nothing more.
Like I said, I hate him...But I don't want him to be traded. It leaves a $3.2 mil dead money, plus a need at OLB.
