What a Joke!!! ANOTHER ARREST FOR MATT JONES Posted by Mike Florio on March 9, 2009, 7:43 p.m. Just as the ?Days without an Arrest Meters? was hours away from getting back to double digits, Jaguars receiver Matt Jones has been arrested, again. A reader has forwarded to us this link to the Washington County, Arkansas Sheriff?s office, which shows that a man named Matt Jones, a 25-year-old white male with brown hair and blue who stands six feet and five inches from the ground and weighs 205 pounds and having an address in Jacksonville, Florida, was arrested at 6:21 p.m. CDT for possession of a controlled substance. Jones is listed on the Jags? official web site as 6-6 and 216 pounds. He?s also 25. We suppose there?s a chance that it?s not the same Matt Jones as the one from Arkansas who plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars, especially since a mug shot as of this posting has not yet been posted with the arrest information. If it is Jones, he could be in big trouble with the NFL, and the law. Last year, he was arrested for felony cocaine possession, but agreed to enter a diversion program, which among other things requires him to stay out of trouble. He also was suspended three games by the NFL. So if the Matt Jones from Arkansas who plays for the Jags is the same Matt Jones of identical age and similar dimensions and Jacksonville address who was arrested within the past half hours in Arkansas, he?s got a big problem. UPDATE: The mugshot is now posted. Yep, it?s him. SECOND UPDATE: Jones also apparently is charged with violating the terms of his probation.
Biggest waste. Ban him from NFL. Dirtbag. Pussy cant stay away from the drugs for a few years at least.
Just himself!! He's going to get at least 8 games...second offense. BTW, there were alot of TGG posters that wanted us to draft this douchebag.
Yes, but the fact that he has so little self-control that he can't abstain from drugs when his job is on the line is in itself just as bad as what he did. He's got some serious character flaws, and/or a a drug addiction. That's not good.
I'm not saying he didn't fuck up or he doesn't have problems. I think calling him a dirt bag is a bit harsh though.
I agree, and numerous African American players have pointed out that Matt Jones had gotten off easy during his first encounter with the law. I had given the league the benefit of the doubt, but if Matt Jones isn't penalized big time for this episode (assuming this was him) then I will believe the league is in fact giving better treatment to whites in these cases.
Jones didn't get off easy the first time, he just had a lengthy appeals process. As long as you're in appeal you can't be suspended until it's confirmed. Most players just take their punishment but Jones, for some reason, thought he could get away with it. He's an ass though, should be out for at least 8 games if he doesn't wind up in jail.
Remember when everyone on this board was clamoring for this clown in the draft?? I thought he was gonna suck, but not because of this! haha
Sure do....I wanted nothing to do with him. I use to call it the Matt Jone's hype machine. He has a good combine and great #'s and everyone wanted him for the Jets as a wideout.
This is where you guys are all wrong. Is it Matt Jones' fault that he is using drugs? More than likely yes, but sometimes there is a bigger picture to look at sometimes. The guy is probably battling with a serious drug addiction. It is nothing to be made fun of and certainly isn't a reason to call him names. This guy is a human being just like all of us. Sometimes I feel like some of you think just because you talk on this message board gives you the freedom to say anything you want and not think twice about it. I have never personally known anyone with a drug addiction, but I do know through research that it is not a good time. The only time this board will share empathy for anyone is when someone dies and we see people post things like..."RIP" or whatever. Why shouldn't this type of situation get a reflective response? I just don't get this board anymore...
He was getting help and went off the wagon. I don't wish ill will on anyone, he has a problem. Taking drugs is a choice, he didn't need to start. Once you start, it's addictive and people need help from outside sources to cure their problem.
He had an alcohol violation for having some beers at a golf game. He's an ass, but that's just silly. ESPN
He's likely gonna be suspended for 8 (at least) games and hopefully for his sake, he cleans himself up. He's looking more and more like he has a drug problem
