Samari Rolle request granted, Baltimore Ravens to release Pro Bowl cornerback Breaking news divulged exclusively to www.jocklife.com from an anonymous league source revealing that Ozzie Newsome and the Baltimore Ravens are going to grant Samari Rolle?s request to be released.Rolle will be officially released sometime this weekend or possibly as late as Monday morning, but for all intents and purposes the release is imminent and should happen sooner than later.Rolle requested his release upon the Ravens signing journeyman cornerback Dominique Foxworth during the early stages of the 2009 free agency period. In a surprise move, the Ravens offered Foxworth $16.5 million guaranteed through a four year, $27.2 million dollar deal. The move seemed a bit surprising given the fact that the Atlanta Falcons, whom acquired Foxworth via a mid-season trade last year with the Denver Broncos, were not interested in retaining his services. Rolle will join fellow Pro Bowl cornerback Chris McAllister in being released by the Ravens organization this off-season. ?"You can look at it as Domonique has replaced Chris," general manager Ozzie Newsome said after the signing of Foxworth.?We have talked about 'have as many corners as you can.' I think they all find their way on the field at some point." If the Ravens motto is to ?have as many corners as you can?, they are now short one more and will surely look to fill that void through the 2009 NFL draft or possibly by sifting through the second tier free agents still available on the market. It will be hard to replace the production of Rolle, but in the current NFL landscape, teams are looking ahead without consideration of prior production. In a league where former NFL head coach Jerry Glanville coined the phrase ?Not For Long?, Rolle has been able to buck that notion by just completing his 12th season in the league this past year. Rolle, 32, has had a brilliant career up to this point with last season being no different. Due to lingering injuries, Rolle was only able to play in 12 of the 19 Ravens games, but made them count when he did see the field. The Ravens were 10-2 with Rolle in the lineup and the pass defense noticeably suffered when he was unable to play in the AFC Championship versus the eventual Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers. The week before versus the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Divisional round, Rolle garnered three tackles, two pass break-ups and an interception helping the Ravens skirt pass the Titans, 13-10, in a classic defensive battle.Rolle?s career began after being drafted out of the Florida State University in the second round of the 1998 NFL draft. Rolle spent seven seasons with the Titans organization before signing with the Ravens in 2005. He has recorded 31 interceptions, 69 pass break-ups, 298 tackles and 9.5 sacks throughout his NFL career. > http://www.jocklife.net/news/nfl/sam...rnerback-16816
