The Raiders drafted him last year in the top ten. Where will the Raiders draft this year......#7. If I recall the Dallas Cowboys of the 90's did not pick one of their starting line in the first round. Look at how good they were. If we use 2 of our first three picks on O line we are going to be in the same boat as last year. If your team has a pick in the top 5 it needs to be spent on an impact player who (with the money you will have to spend on him) help now not in a couple of years. No O line in the first round.
I think we have to use #29 and #35 on the o-line. But #4 can be used for a playmaker... I'd like Mario Williams at #4 if we can't trade down.
Do you remeber Orlando Pace (whom Parcells passed on)? Jonathan Ogden? Tim Couch? Ki Jana Carter? Mike Mamula? Audray Bruce? Just take the player they have rated highest on their draft board, regardless of position.
I prefer that we trade down with SF and take D. Williams. I watched him run during his bowl game. This guy is hits the hole with great vision and is extremely fast. This way we also grab a couple extra picks.
the funny thing is they draft gallery in rd1 and C jake grove in rd 2. sorta what people want here with mangold and d brick. but this being said oakland oline still sucks.
I always thought that myself, oak drafted 2 linemen high and look how much their team improved in the last 2 years. Another reason why I wouldn't draft a lineman in the 1st.
Well, atleast we have some semblance of a defense. Oakland's OL is pretty good, it's their defense that has made them suck horribly the past couple of years.
Gallery is a good RT. They have a good Oline. They have no QB and no defense thats their problem. So taking an Olinemen with a top 5 pick is good especially when its someone like DBrick whos an amazing pass protector.
thats the Problem he was drafted that high to be LT not a RT. you dont draft RT that high. and if they where so great why was collin the 3rd most sacked qb in the nfl. 39 times. not to mention jordan had a 3.8 YAC .hell even we had 5 sacks vs them this year
You have a point about how you dont draft a RT that high but Gallery only let up 3 sacks last year http://snap.stats.com/stats/nflinfo/playerstats.asp?id=6761&Submit=Go
Do you remember Coutney Brown? If your going to take a chance, take it on a franchise QB like Leinart. If you are afraid of making a mistake, draft AJ Hawk, the safest pick in the early part of the draft.
why is it alright to draft an LT this high? but not a RT? I dont understand the difference.....I know the difference in the positions......but they are both OL......and not an impact player. and please spare the "teams need OL or else impact players on offense cant do their job" we can get OL later in the draft.....we are in good positions later on in the rounds I just want to know the argument for why LT and not RT
Tim Couch and Ryan Leaf were franchise qbs, atleast Courtney Brown is still playing and Denvers run defense is one of the best in the league.Take williams, if he aint there take Davis, Hawk or Huff those are players that aregoing to be stars in the league.
Gallery is not so much a bust as an overdrafted player. But that doesn't make me shy about drafting OL. What makes me shy about drafting OL is that we've already solidified the one position that does in fact deserve to be drafted that high: LT. If Mario is not there, I love the idea of trading out of D'Brick to get a RB like Deangelo AND a QB like Cutler. 6 could certainly get Cutler and 22 plus 35 could probably get up high enough for DeAngelo. Then 29 could still get Mangold and you've only be looking for a RT. And RTs can be found in round 3. (and you've still have a third rounder left to go).
Right handed qbs are can be blind sighted from the left. In atlanta their best T is at the right cause Mike Vicks a lefty.
OK, the Steelers drafted 4/5 of their Super Bowl winning offensive line. Notable top 10 offensive tackles include Walter Jones, Orlando Pace and Jonathan Ogden. None of your "evidence" proves anything.
yeah, I understand that. But that does not explain why we should draft LT at #4.....its just too high for OL
