if a player will be there when we pick in the 2nd round. The past two years, Tanny has shown an uncanny ability to get the player he wants in the draft. If we pass on Freeman in the 1st, I have no doubt that if the Jets want him, we will trade up to get him. The past 2 drafts, we have traded up to get Revis, Harris, and Keller.

That being said, I wouldn't mind taking a quality speedster like Harvin, then moving up to take a chance on Freeman. If we use the #17 on Freeman, we are saying that he could be better than Clemens or Ratty (which we don't know). Id rather take a player who can contribute right away.

We wouldn't trade for Freeman, if the jets really liked him in the private practices, then we would draft him 1st round.

If we don't take Freeman at #17 then the Broncos could take him with their new #18 or the Bucs could at #19. Or maybe the Lions will pass on Stafford in hopes that Freeman is there at #20.

if we dont take freeman at #17.. we are not drafting a QB this year... stafford and sanchez will both be off the board .. most likely both in the top 10... so freeman is it..

Fine then forget freeman, all I am saying is that people are hung up on our 1st pick, thinking that if we take Harvin or another receiver, that Gilbert or Freeman will be off the board by when we pick 2nd. I am just saying that Tanny has taken the position of attacking the draft and getting the players he and the coach wants. So a receiver and gilbert is possible. Or Freeman with our 17th and trading our 2nd and 3rd to move up the take the receiver we want is possible. We dont have too many holes on this team and Tanny knows that, so he can really attack this year.

We already have 3 uncertainties at QB. Why draft another?

I think we go after guys who can contribute right away. DE, RB,DL,OL, and to a lesser extent WR.

I would rather pass on a QB this year until the later rounds and give either Kellen or Ratliff a chance.

It's not likely that a Sanchez or a Freeman will step right in and start as a rookie in the 1st place this year, so we might as well give either Kellen or Ratliff a chance, see how the perform behind a strong O-Line, a tough 1-2 Punch with Jones and Leon with the running game to go along with a top 10 Defense.

If Kellen or Ratliff cant get the job done this year, well then...Next year, we know we NEED to draft a future franchise QB but I'm not sure we should draft a QB this year until the later rounds. Lets just see what we have in Kellen/Ratliff.

I would LOVE for us to draft Percy Harvin @ 17 followed by Shonn Greene in the 2nd round because Maclin and Crabtree will both be gone and Harvin will be the next best thing and the Jets need playmakers @ the WR position and Harvin is just that. He's an explosive athlete and a playmaker with the ball in the open field.

If we enjoyed Stucky last year as our slot WR, we would simply fall in love with Harvin in the slot becaise Stucky has nothing on Harvin as far as overall talent and potential goes, just put it this way...There's a reason why Harvin is projected as a top 20 talent in this years draft class and I'm not sure Stucky was projected as a top 100. Harvin made his career of none-stop highlights in the SEC which has always been known to produce elite D's @ the college level.

This man can turn this Jets offense into an explosive one.

Harvin has the potential to be a superstar in this league, I would like to see him as a slot WR before he develops into a #2 because I have a feeling Cotchery will hold his own as our #1.

    Ferguson-Faneca-Mangold-Moore-Woody

    QB-Kellen

    RB-Thomas Jones/Leon Washington/Shonn Greene

    #1-Cotchery
    #2-Clowney
    #3-Harvin
    #4-Stucky

    TE-Keller

That offense would be full of talent, potential and speed @ each and every position. Will Harvin be the next Steve Smith? Maybe not. Will he be better than Santana Moss? (Another player I grew up watching) You can bet your bottom dollar that he will.

WRT to Harvin being a superstar; uh, what? Harvin won't be more then a PR/KR/slot receiver/wildcat star in this league. He is small, his ankle is always banged up one way or the other, among other things. WR was, he is a worse prospect then Ted Ginn was, and he is slower, smaller, and weaker then Ginn. His route running is sub-par (granted, you can teach that) his blocking is beyond bad, etc etc. I do NOT want Harvin, at all.

I couldn't agree more. I think taking on chance on Freeman woud be stupid at this point since hes just as raw as Clemens or Ratty. I have not lost faith in Clemens and I think if you give him the weapons he'll be fine. Therefore drafting Harvin would make perfect sense as I think he is going to be great too.

Let us not forget that when Clemens started for us, our offensive line was TERRIBLE. Lets give him a shot with some weapons around him.

I would like, for once, we don't trade up... we need to build some depth and that is done by using picks from round 3 to round 7... we already gave away a 5... I don't want to lose another one. Actually this year I'm more in the idea of trading down... like our pick at #17 for Detroit #20 and their 4th round pick. or something like that... If someone gives us thier 1st and a 3rd it'd be great.

Yeah, it was. Just look @ what Thomas Jones did behind the O-Line of 2007, how many TD's? I think he only had 1 rushing TD right? It was tough to watch Kellen struggle behind a horrid "O-Line".

Then look what he did last year with a solid O-Line, he rushed for the most yards in the AFC and I think he tied an alltime Jets record for most rushing TD's in a season. What a differense two major up-grades on the O-Line can do for an entire Offense in Todays NFL.

In 07 Kellen had Montgomery as his starting LG. Montgomery was a 3rd string player who was "Trying" to play the role of a starting LG and lead blocker. It was hard to watch.

In 07 Kellen had Anthony Clement (The worst starting RT in Jets history) as his pass blocking RT and I hate to Say it, but it just wasn't working. He was horrid and teams that ran the 4-3 would have monster days from their LDE and teams who ran the 3-4 would send OLB's on the blitz like crazy and Clement didn't know what the F to do and Kellen had to run for his life which means he made some mistakes behind that O-Line and I couldn't blame him.

Last year we added a future HOF LG in Faneca who has always been one of the best run blockers in the game and if you ask me, he still has a good 3-4 and maybe even 5 solid seasons left in the tank.

We also added a veteran RT in Woody for pass protection and more support with the running game. Woody may not be a superstar on the O-Line, but he's still a veteran leader for younger players like Ferguson and Mangold, he can pass protect and he can also play just about every position on the O-Line which is huge because of injurys.

Lets not forget that Ferguson and Mangold were both only playing in their 2nd seasons while still learning on the fly.

This year they will both be starting as 4 year starters and thats a huge in my eyes.

Something tells me Kellen will have a MUCH better year behind this O-Line and something tells me he can win with this Jets team because he won some games in 07 which was amazing in itself.

Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side of the fence because its over the septic tank. At some point you have to show some balls and give our current QBs a shot and find out what they can do. Everyone laughed when the Pats said they were happy with Matt Cassel, that worked out.

I?m also trusting in Ratliff or Clemens.
They should battle it out in TC and the winner starts. We don?t need another unexperienced QB and we also don?t need Harvin. I would go WR and RB in the first two rounds. A DE like Jackson or Gilbert would be nice too, but if we are a run-first team we need another RB.

  16. Unfortunately I think you're right. Tanny routinely makes a move on day 1 and usually it's moving up not back.

Granted most of those moves have paid off (Keller, Revis, Harris, etc) but I've been saying for acouple years now that I targetted this draft as a "Depth draft". If anything we should be trading back, gainin more picks and drafting based on our value board to give this roster some solid depth.

Sacrificing all these picks regardless of the players acquired could really come back and bite us

Agree 100 %. And next years draft does look better for Qb's so I'm willing to wait. With any kinda luck that wont be our issue. Maybe replacing Jones will be our need.........

I'm actually starting to change my mind about Sanchez... but I am convinced that we are going defense in round 1. There is no PSL-selling blockbuster blue chip QB in this year's draft.
