I wouldn't be surprised to see Tanny trade him for picks on draft day.

TJ will be traded before draft day for a draft pick and the Jets will draft Donald Brown of Connecticut. Leon will be the featured back and Brown will be the 2nd back. This makes sense due to TJ's age and this will be the only time they will get any value for him in a trade Everything I have read about Brown makes me think he will be a Jet.

I would encourage that line of thinking, IMO. Especially if we draft an HB in the first 3 rounds....preferably a power back (Shonn Greene perhaps).

Nothing against TJ....but he's certainly replaceable.

I say he comes back this year but I also think we will draft a back as well. I think we'll draft a back because as someone else mentioned he will most certainly be cut before 2010.

I'd love to grab Moreno but I dont think Tanny (being a Tuna guy) would draft a back round 1.

If the best back in the draft is still available when we pick I think that Tannenbaum, regardless of his religious upbringing, will make a move and grab the guy.

Isn't there anyone else out there who wants to give Jehuu Caulcrick a legitimate shot at the job? The kid looked very good at TC last year. He's young, strong, healthy and weighs close to 250 if memory serves. Looked like a good north-south runner. I'd like to see him getting more time with the first team this off-season. Why would we continue to draft guys when we haven't even worked with the ones we drafted ahead of them?

I don't want Leon used as a "feature" back... no way, no how.

The question seems to be, if we want to put together a team for the coming season or for the future.
The O-line will not be better than it is right now, for a few years, and TJ will not be better than be is right now.
So if we want the best combo of line and RB I say keep him, and go for the playoffs.
Trading is for the future, and will write off the 2010 season offensively.

    Just my oppinion.

Not necessarily. 1000 yard backs are not difficult to come by nowadays and RB is one of the few positions where a new player can instantly contribute when thrown into the mix.

I hadn't even considered the possibility of him being gone this year, for all the reasons people have stated he'll stay. However, I voted "I don't know" because it is conceivable that if we go RB in round 1 (which I have always thought was unlikely and not the best use of the pick) it's not out of the question.

It could be used as a "Buy in or be gone" message from a new HC.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out...

I expect TJ to play for the Jets this year. He doesn't have any contract leverage. He either plays for the Jets for the money of his current contract or he doesn't play at all. Sitting out a season would be very bad for his career. The way the free agent market for 30 year old running backs works he would be looking at a 1 year deal for something not too far north of the veteran minimum for the 2010 season. And I would be suprised if he showed up to camp with the intention of being disruptive as Pete Kendall has done.

without a doubt, he's to valueable to us right now...a powerful runner with a good amount still in his tank...it would be foolish for us to let him go, not to mention he complements leon very well

Unless we draft Moreno (who I think is a really good fit for our offense) I think it's good for us to keep TJ this year.
This Year TJ will be the proven back while Leon will get more time (60% - 40% ?)... if Leon makes good use of his playing time next year TJ will be gone and Leon will be our starter, otherwise we will draft a starting RB and Leon will continue to be our complementary back. I don't see anyone giving us more than a low 4 for TJ... and I don't think you'd be able to find a starting RB there...

we dont have to find TJ's replacement with the pick we get for him. we can draft a RB with our 1st or 2nd, and use whatever pick we got for TJ (3rd or 4th?) on some other position...

I voted that he will not be. I can see a scenario like trading him and a 4th for a 3rd round pick.

I don't believe that is true value for him. I can't see the FO giving him the money he wants, and also dealing with Washington. Therefore, he will be disgruntled, and can pick someone up to compliment Washington with the pick.

Washington is the back of the future, just think Maurice Jones Drew for those that think he is too small. What is MJD anyway, 5'7" 200lbs?

I think he'll be back. I like James Davis in the 4th or 5th to suceed TJ.
