So it's okay to be excited and hype up Cano's and Swisher's start...But just shrug off Tiex's bad week?

Because Cano and Swisher are both pleasant surprises?

Isn't Tex a traditionally slow starter?

And Teixeira has inflammation in his tendon. That's got to hurt. Plus, in a few weeks he's going to have some pretty awesome protection behind him.

The fact is, we know all three of those guys are going to hit. What no one saw coming (even people who were totally behind them) was Cano hitting so well so early, or Swish hitting so well without even having a starting job. So being excited about Cano and Swisher is because we know we're getting the level of performance expected of both over a longer period, and we just have to be a little more patient with Teixeira. (ETA: And Swish is hitting pretty out of his mind right now too.)

I'd say if we're going to worry about anyone's hitting, it should be our perma-DH.

So how about a nice play by Melky last night? Nice hustle there. Good defensive move by Girardi. (Gotta give credit where due.)

Where are all the "Joba should pitch the 8th" people now? I'm happy to see Bruney getting the job done.

    And how about the Captain!?

You asked "what the holdup" was with Tex. The holdup is that he's played six games (missed three) and has a bum wrist. That's a pretty obvious reason. He's also a slow starter, like Alio said, so this isn't really unexpected.

So Teixeira isn't going to bat .211 this year. And Nick Swisher isn't going to hit .458. I would hope that's understood.

In the case of Swisher and Cano, what's exciting to see are rebounds (even if they're exaggerated ones) from down years last season. Neither of them had a week in 2008 like they have had to kick off the year. It's nice to see.

You see all the opportunites he had, striking out with runners on it just got annoying. Yes I remember Jeter going what? 0-34 stretch and barely batting .208 in whatever month and then finishing the season with an average of over .270...

But the wrist is a factor as I said...Just wanted to see him hit like we all know.

Dude... dude... six games. Let's wait until May before we start talking about what's "wrong" with Teixeira. How's that sound?
