Just when I think I'll be able to see the end of this game (going out at 4:40), they go into extra innings.
Terrific performance by Veras and the pen, but the inconsistency is still very troublesome. If any game had to go to 14 innings, I'm glad it was this one coming off a postponed game and with a day off tomorrow.
It's great that we won, but I really really REALLY can't stand Melky Cabrera. I want him off the Yankees.
He stunk ass last year and lost alot of support (mine included) but he's been hitting great so far.... can't hate that too much.
Exactly. I just can't understand this attitude by Yankees fans that certain players "don't belong" on the Yankees. If a guy is performing, why would you want him off the team? Granted, Melky has had a tough time over the past year and a half, but he can still play defense, and now he's hitting the ball. WTF is there to complain about? But of course it makes me laugh much harder when someone says ARod should be gone. And then there are always the people who want to be rid of Hughes or Kennedy. I guess I should be happy I'm no longer hearing about how Cano needs to go. ------------ As for the game, Girardi is going to need to wake up at some point. Yes, I get not having confidence in your bullpen, but Sabathia can't throw like this all the time. I know he wants to, but that's why you have a manager, to make the decision to pull a guy. That was some ending. I left work at about 10 to 5. When I got off the train I checked the game on my phone and saw it was still going. I got home in time to see the 13th and of course the end of the game. I didn't see anyone give Swisher some credit. That was a great at-bat before Melky. He has a great eye for the ball. It was weird, when Melky came up and Kay said he had hit a homer and struck out in his last 3 at-bats, I just got a feeling he was going to knock one. Hopefully, this marks a turning point for him and he keeps up the good work.
Hey Alio, you still think the Yankees are going to sell 4 million seats? They may not sell 3 million if they don't stay at the top of the division.
Maybe..not sure. A lot of people not showing up if they did, especially in those expensive seats. Those weren't 10% full yesterday. They announced 42,000 but I would be surprised if there were 25,000 in the park.
Melky is far too inconsistent to be a part of this team, and he has made a lot of bonehead plays over the years. Not sure how anyone can look at him in pinstripes and think he's Yankees material.
I don't know what you're talking about. The other day I specifically said they were going to have a tough time getting 4 million this year. This is exactly what I'm talking about. WTF is "Yankees material"? He's not Babe Ruth? Mickey Mantle? Don Mattingly? So what? As for inconsistent, what exactly is Brett Gardner, if not inconsistent? Yet Gardner has everyone enthralled right now. And "a lot of bonehead plays"? Seriously? Can you name some of them? To be quite honest, the only Melky play that I can consistently remember is the one where he stole a home run from Manny Ramirez. I'm not saying Melky should be awarded the starting job tomorrow, but I am saying he deserves a chance to continue to prove himself. There are a lot of years on our tires in the outfield. Having a capable backup, whether that is Melky, Gardner, or Nady, is critical to seeing a November baseball game in the Bronx.
That's how it always works, people base what they emphasize on what they think of the player, so People think of Melky's mistakes more than his great plays, while Jeter is captain clutch, despite grounding into a ton of DPs.
well the Jeter vs. Ortiz clutch argument has no finally come to an end since ortiz cant even get a fucking hit
