Coleman, Ratliff, and Elam...and 1 AND 2. more than just players, but not a whole lot. Douglas at RDE now?
Who knew we could move up to number 5 and not give up next years number one? The only downside is going to be how much we will pay Sanchez at 5 rather than 8.
I'm shocked that all it took was a 2nd round pick and some throw in players. Hell, throwing in the players helps to lower our salary cap and make the #5 pick more affordable. I was sure that next year's #1 would be thrown in or at least a bunch of other picks. That's amazing. I'm stoked. Great draft already.
Here's the thing. Our outstanding DE Coleman was only abourt $4.6 million over priced. We use that money for Sanchez, plus whatever we were going to pay at the 17th spot. Now we have a major major need at the DE spot and I really wouldnt mind if we traded back in to the 2nd round for a solid DE. Im guessing Bryan Thomas will start otherwise. Best part about the deal, Colemans $4.6 mil is off the books. I hate to see Abram Elam and Ratliff leave. I thought Abram was one of the best 'backup' safety and Ratliff had some potential. Lets hope we were wrong....
Why would Gholston play DE? He's only about 265 lbs, pretty small for a 34 DE. We still have Ellis, the guy in your username.
I think Slowston will end up exclusively a DE, even while playing in 3-4 schemes. Before he was drafted Slowston said he would bulk up if drafted to play DE and slim down if drafted as an OLB. As muscular as the guy is, he insists he can get stronger from his college playing weight. And his strength is obviously his strength, so to speak. Not his mobility, which sucks. VG will be a DE.
Moving up 12 spots and keeping next year's #1 is HUGE!!! Especially when next year's draft is supposed to be strong.
