A New QB, Friend Traded- David Clowney

I didn?t get to watch most of the first day of the draft because I was in Texas doing a charity event, a celebrity car show with my teammate Drew Coleman. But I got a text from Mark Sanchez yesterday that said he was excited to be a Jet and that he can?t wait to work with me.

Abram Elam, one of my closest friends on the team, was right there next to me. Now he?s in Cleveland. It?s tough when someone you?re close to gets traded but he definitely should be starting in somebody?s system. In Cleveland he?ll get the opportunity to show how I know he can play.

When the Jets drafted Mark my phone blew up with calls and texts. I?m excited to see what he can do. It?s going to be a nice little show when he competes with Kellen for the starting job. I think they shouldn?t just make him the starter because he?s a first round pick. Let them compete and whatever happens, happens.

Either way it?s going to be fine. Me, I just have to keep working, keep grinding. My main job right now is to do anything I can to help the team win every game but also to get that starting job. Whatever QB is in there I just hope they can throw the ball far enough to where I?m going to be.

We had a great time at the charity car show raising money for the Boys & Girls Club. We all flew in and Drew paid for our hotel rooms, the same thing I do when I hold my football camp. I?m going to have Abe, Drew, Chad Pennington and some other guys fly in, I?ll have a limo pick them up at the airport and I?ll put them up in a hotel.

We?ve got the week off so I?m home in Florida to spend some time with my family. Workouts start Monday morning at 6:55 so I?ll get back Sunday night.

Man, Jets fans have been great. I seem to be the underdog that the fans like to root for. Whenever someone sees me on the street they tell me they hope I?m starting on the other side from Jericho and they?re glad I?m going to get the chance to show what I can do.

Now I just have to make it happen like I know I can on the field and everything will be good.

Learning the New Coaches

We just had our first practice today and we have another this afternoon. It was fun, everybody was out there having a great time. There was a lot of competing going on, people were trash talking a little bit.

It’s a learning process right now with our new coaching staff. When Coach Mangini was here he was a real serious guy, he was kind of uptight about everything. He wanted everything to be precise and wanted us like that too. That kind of took the fun out of football.

Right now the coaches have told us to just go out there and have fun. Coach Ryan knows that we know what we’re doing so we can just go out there and have fun working hard.

A lot of people don’t know that I also love to cook. I’ll cook anything, steak, chicken, pasta, whatever, you come up with it and I’ll cook it. A lot of people like my pasta Alfredo, it’s off the hook. That’s one of my best dishes. I also like to make soul food and things like that.

I started cooking when I was little when my mom would be out at work and I would cook up something for me and my two little brothers. At first you try stuff and mess it up a bit, but you get better as you go along.

Now I cook for my little brother Jordan. I don’t watch those cooking shows too much but he really likes them. He watches Top Chef and Emeril and some other ones.

The draft is coming up and guys in the locker room are talking about it. I usually watch it, but I can’t this year because I’ll be in Texas at a charity event run by Drew Coleman. Right now I’m thinking it could be a big offensive draft for us, we could get a quarterback or receiver, but the draft is funny and you never know how it’s going to work out.

He seems cool and confident. Hopefully he'll prove what he is worth. I wonder if Coleman will make the team this year...
