I think we ultimately trade out of the #4 spot, and land between #6-9, where we will take Jay Cutler - gaining at least another 2nd & 3rd round pick in the process (hopefully more). We have supposedly talked to Oakland about this. Then we will package the #29 and #35 to move up somewhere between #10-13 to target Winston Justice or Haloti Ngata... depending upon our draft board. We have supposedly talked to Baltimore about this. Then I would like to see us trade the 2nd rounder we get for trading back from #4 and #71 in round 3 for #18 from Dallas, where we will take Manny Lawson or D'Angelo Williams. We have supposedly talked to Dallas about this. Round One Jay Cutler (@ #6-9) Winston Justice (@ #10-13) Manny Lawson (@ #18 from Dallas) Round Three 3rd rounder from trading back from #4 #97 Thats still 5 first day picks, but 3 top 20 guys that would make an immediate impact. Cutler will be groomed for a year, Justice can play RT or LT and Lawson gives us the pass-rushing OLB/DE we are lacking. What do you guys think?
Thats a busy day for us hopefully we get that Oakland deal done, That second deal is something that i dont want to happen id rather us get get the ohio state boys in Carpenter and Mangold with those picks. That third trade wont happen a 2nd and 3rd for a 1st.
NYJ #4 (1800) for OAK #7 (1500) + #38 (520) = (2020) --- maybe we include a 7th rounder or something to even it out... and we don't get the extra 3rd rounder NYJ #29 (640) + #35 (550) = (1190) for CLE #12 (1200) --- Cleveland has already said they wanted to move down, so has Baltimore... NYJ #38 (520) + #71 (235) = 755 for Dallas #18 (900) --- not perfect, but a similar trade has been talked about... so there may be something to it...
I'm not saying they can't happen, I'm just saying theres virtually no chance we make 3 trades in the first round.
A perfect day one would be: 1. Trading down to 17 with the Vikings and getting two 2nd rounders. 2. Not drafting a RB or QB (unless its cutler with 17) on day one. 3. Acquiring 2 starting OLB's, 1 OT, a NT and a CB or Guard/Center in those 1st 5 picks. 4. Being lucky enought to have Winston Justice drop to the 17 th pick. 5. Being even luckier to have Wimbley drop to the 29th, 6. While we are not being realistic and are asking for luck why not Lawson to 35. Justice, Wimbley and Lawson and 2 more second round picks plus 2 in the third and in the 4th would be quite a haul. Realistically I would be quite happy with any of the following at each pick: 1. Number 4 The Williams/Ferguson leftover. 2. Number 29 Wimbley/Lawson/Carpenter/Winston 3. Number 35 Josephi/Lutui/Mangold/Howard/Ryans/Youboty/McNeil/Winston There is a lot of good talent in this draft. I will be quite happy as long as we use our 1st and 2nd round pick on football players that can challenge for a starting job next year rather playing the lottery on a boom or bust QB or throwing the pick away on a RB.
No, you said I play too much Madden... which is an insult typically reserved for ridiculous propositions. No room for clarification now... Besides, who is to say that we don't do something like this... most people said "too much Madden" or "its not the NBA" when people talked about a potential 3-way trade involving Abraham... but the ambitious new FO proved that there is room for something like that in the NFL.
I think you misunderstood me. First of all, I put a wink next to it which meant I was just joking around with you. And also, three trades by the same team all in the first round is pretty much a ridiculous proposition, I don't think it's ever happened before. Sure your trades could technically work but theres little to no chance of that happening.
Yeah, honestly guys like you keep popping up in the mock draft threads complaining about them... my suggestion... lower your expectations, its 2 days before the draft!!! What would you expect people to be talking about?
My perfect day one: Mario, Mangold, Whitworth, Parys Haralson, Andre Hall. AND we might not even have to trade around to get those guys.
#4 Mario Williams #29 Manny Lawson #35 Marcus Mcneil If this happened we would have 2 players that would instantly make a huge impact on defense(there is a good chance lawson will be gone by 29 but if hes there then id be shocked if we passed on him). We would also have a OT that is potentialy just as good as Ferguson(remember Mario Williams did say that Mcneil was the toughest oppenent he went against in college).
How about this. I was thinking about not-so-seriously today. #4: Mario Williams #29 and #35 traded UP in the first round to the middle, and grabbing Lawson. If Croyle is still available in round 3, grab him, otherwise, fill in the OLine. I know it's a bit outrageous, I just keep thinking how powerful our defense would be if we added both Williams and Lawson. I just don't believe Lawson will be available if we wait until 29. I wouldn't mind picking up a RB with 29 if Lawson isn't around anymore, but I would like to see Lawson and Williams on D with Vilma.
i love the idea of trading 29 and 35 to move up and take lawson, and even tho wed lose a pik i think wed still be able to get quality players at #71 and #97(such as omar jacobs, kellen clemens, OG charles spencer, OT Ryan O Callaghan, and RB Jerious Norwood) who are capable of filling some of our needs.
There is no way we are gonna get three different trades done between now and Saturday-I think we traded Abraham so we could put ourselves in what Tannenbaum thinks is the perfect position for this draft-we need either D'brick or Mario with the 4th, hopefully one of the big 4 HBs with #29, an offensive lineman with #35. And the stupidest idea is to take a guy like Brody Croyle or Kellen Clemmens-we already have 3 QBs and we dont need another average one. Are we gonna cut Brooksy?
