I know this may be a long shot, but the Texans Owner is very conservative and said he wants a contract signed by the draft tomorrow. If Bush isn't signed by then, they could draft Mario Williams, who will come cheaper and fill a bigger need. If that happens, do the Jets trade their 2 1st round picks to move up and grab Bush at 2. Or do they stay at 4 and grab Linehart or Ferguson? I know it is a dream at this point, but I would do whatever possible to get Bush. If Williams goes 1, NO will want Ferguson and will definitely be able to get him at 4, so they should be willing to trade to pick up the extra #1 and pay a smalled contract of a #4 pick vs. a #2.
They were talking about it on Mike & Mike this morning. You know how rumors fly right before the draft.
I don't think it's very far fetched for the Texans to take Williams. He is the top rated defensive player in the draft, some have him rated higher than Bush overall, and he definitely fits their needs better. The Saints will probably be bombarded with offers if this does happen, and the Jets are in a better position than most to make that move if they want to. We shouldn't have to give up our two first rounders if this did happen: NO Picks 2nd (1st rnd)- 2600 98th (4th rnd) - 100 Jets Picks 4th (1st rnd) - 2200 35th (2nd rnd)- 600 So we'd be losing 100 points in estimated draft value but for Bush it may be worth it. I don't see us picking Lionhearts, but that's just my opinion.
Reading something yesterday about this if Bush didn't go #1 and instead they took Super Mario then Bush would likely end up at 4. The Bush camp realizes this and all the millions they would lose dropping those critical spots so I imagine they will sign, but if he's still on the board at 4 there's no way we could pass him up.
I'd love to have bush, but i'd rather have the two first round picks. It's not worth it to give up our two first round picks to get bush when we can get an excellent player at 4. And at 4 i really hope we dont get leinart. We'd have too many qb's..
No chance we get Bush. If he doesn't get picked by the Texans, you can be sure NO will snap him up without blinking. If somehow they decided to skip him and take Brick, I can't see him getting past Tenn, regardless of their QB situation. IF he fell to #4, then I would have to agree with taking him. Besides, at that point, Williams would be off the board. But then again, it would be the ULTIMATE opportunity to trade down and get a boatload of picks, so I might be more apt to do that. (I'm not a Bush fan anyway, so it doesn't really matter to me where he falls to. I want Mario in round 1.)
I can't see him getting to #4. If the Texans pass him up, SOMEONE is going to come flying up making an offer to snag him...
