If Walker and Bush were coming out together I believe Walker would have gone ahead of Bush and he really didn't have that great an impact in the NFL other than when Dallas traded him to MN it made them a dynasty.

I am too, as long as it's a value chart based trade. My point is largely based on what the rumors are.... that N.O. wants an outrageos number of picks. I find this hard to beleive, since the Texans couldn't find a trade down partner.

Actually, I think N.O. is between a rock and a hard place. Even if they can afford to sign him, i think they would much rather get Feruson at 4, save some money, and get another pick.

    I agree TBird, but you're talkin about two moronic trades that were THOUSANDS of points off the value chart ... here we're talkin 75 VP's {Value Points}

If we trade #4, #29 and #71 for the #2 Overall Pick, we are only overpaying by 75 VP's

    #2 = 2600 VP's
    #4, #29 & #71 = 2675

Now of course I wouldn't make any wacked out deals like Walker and Williams ... no-one is worth overpaying to that degree ... but if we can exceed the chart by 75 lousy VP's, which is the price of a 4th RD Pick, and that Gets us Reggie Bush ... I make that trade in a nano-second

Basicially all I'm talkin about here is haggling over 35 or 29 ... #4 and #71 is a Given, but will that middle pick be #29 or #35 ... if it's 35 we are slightly under-paying, and if it's 29 we are slightly over-paying ... so if those six slots are MAKE or BREAK, Give'em the extra six slots {29}, we keep 35, and let's snatch Reggie Bush

    Who's with me?

Remember he wasted years playing in the USFL though, RBs age "faster" than other positions and wasting 3 prime years is not a good thing.

I remeber I almost got killed at the Meadowlands going to a few of those games. It was like sitting in the stands with the cast from OZ.

my god .... if the jets don't trade up and grab bush i will cry. I can't remember when this team had legit " take it to the house" playmaker. I think the last one was Wes Walker. So i agree with the be bold statement. I could give a rats's *** if we give up some picks. How many actually pan out. If i am sure on one player its Reggie Bush and a winner will draft him. He is no where near BLAIR THOMAS. Bush had many more big plays throughout his college career. Mangini get er done

Good to see that fans on this site, as usual for the most part, have their heads on straight. We have more leverage than any other team in this case. New Orleans wants Hawk or D'Brick. By trading with us, and getting our 4 and 29, they achieve what they wanted. They are guaranteed Hawk or D'Brick (and probably have their choice @ 4, in reality). Just like everyone wanted Tannenbaum to hold strong in the JAbe negoatiations, I hope he does the same here. Don't cave, Mike!

I went to a few games as a kid but i don't remember the atmosphere other than it was mostly empty.

there is at least 4-5 teams trying to trade into the 2 spot- NO has ALOT of leverage. if we play our cards right we can make a good deal as we have the most to offer and No isn't going to take Bush(except for trade bait) but NO does have leverage.

    Jabba -

No offense, but you get enamored to quickly and focus on one player as the team's salvation. Last year's "dare to be great" draft post was Matt Jones. I am not questioning your ability to evaluate the draft and the players, but sometimes you go a bit overboard on clamoring to trade picks for this or that player.

The Jets have way too many holes this year to be trading that many picks away. I am not opposed to a reasonable trade, but throwing away picks is never prudent. I know in your mind it is a "just a 4th rd pick" but there plenty of examples of that 4th rd pick being better than the #1 or #2 overall.

    Anyway, just my two cents...

In a case like this, you give up what it takes. Someone who will make every player better instantly is worth the picks.

I just think its ludicrous that more than one team seem to be passing up Reggie Bush. If you've watched him play and know anything about football, you know he's a special player that does have the ability to change an entire game. The Jets should do whatever they can to grab him. Nothing in the draft is a guarantee, so while Bush being a hall-of-famer isnt a guarantee, it's also not certain that whoever we'd take at 4,29, and 35 are going to be perfect fits. The Jets must get this done.

if we give up the 4 29 and 71 i wouldnt care. look at what the giants gave up for ELI. they def. gave a first rounder the next year. if we have so many holes then if we lose the oppurtunity to fill those holes cause of one player then hell im for it. the outcome will be we'll suck again and have another high pick. rebuilding takes more than a year people. reggie bush is a hell of a start. and if we can keep our 2nd rounder then we can still get a good OL.

Question for people. Who would you take at 4, 29/35, and 71? Once you figure that out, then is Bush better then those three players combined for the team?

I'm not saying I wouldn't do the deal but to say it's a "no brainer" or it "must get done" is a stretch. We as Jets fans usually over-hype or over-blame players/coaches all the time. The FO is smart in taking their time. They could still get Bush with the #4 pick if they do nothing so they have to balance the risk of someone trading up along with the picks they give up.

nice post Jabba, and I have never agreed more. I can't people are fretting about giving up just 6 more lame spots, are we really going to get a superstar at 29 and a bum at 35, no way, we are going to get similar players either way. Not only that, people forget even if we give up the 4,29,71, we will still have made choices in the first, second, and third rounds - like we are supposed to anyways. Think about it again, WE CAN HAVE REGGIE BUSH, a SECOND ROUNDER AND A THIRD ROUNDER!!!! when have somethin like that ever happened!!! thats crazy not to go for it. Comparing this to the H. Walker secenerio is ludacris.. they gave up way more.
