C'mon guys.... 2 things. - EA Doesn't know shit about real football - EA does this to the Jets EVERY YEAR! Every Year it's inconsistent. Harris was hurt so he gets degraded yet Brady was hurt and....? But if Stats are based on how they think the player will be this year then explain Leon.... Simply amazing and I don't understand how people buy this shit every year. I used to but now only get it once every 2-3 years and still play my 2k5 & 2k8
Kerry Rhodes being rated Higher than Revis destroys the credibility of the entire Madden player-rating system.
lol. i see youve changed your avatar to that scene from Waking Life. awesome fucking movie and easily one of my favorite scenes.
i feel like this is a classic case of people overrating their own players and not understanding how they changed the ratings this year. not to mention overall is way overrated. leon is "only" a 79 but look at his relevant ratings like speed and you will see they are in the ballpark. of course the ratings aren't perfect and they never will be. you guys see harris as someone who got shafted, i see someone who showed potential and then had a disappointing year. i don't think i need to point out how stupid the brady and harris comparison is. one of the top 5 qbs to ever play suffered a knee injury that stopped him from performing for the whole year is it surprising that they left all of the categories relevant to a pocket passer high?
If you guys actually read anything EA has put out over the last 6 months then you'd realise everyones rating has been completely overhauled to give a more realistic feel to the game. http://insideblog.easports.com/archive/2009/03/09/creating-sim-style-gameplay-in-madden-nfl-10.aspx
Right, but none of this explains why certain inferior players have higher overall ratings than players who are clearly better than them. Half of the complaints in this thread are precisely about those instances.
I have no problem with the ratings getting lowered but for bryan thomas to be rated higher that Harris is crazy.....and Revis should be rated higher than rhodes in my opinion but w.e. its a video game lol
Like Madden simulation is that much accurate anyway... Admit it. Not just Madden - but in about all fronts of sports game, EA sucks big fat balls. If you want a really good simulation, try: Baseball: OOTP series Football: I have absolutely no idea Soccer: Football Manager (Or World Soccer Manager, for us Americans.) Personally, I think the concept of "Overall" in the stat is big fat bullshit. My understanding is that, if the coach knows how to utilize his personnel with right schemes to maximize the output of the player, that's what should matter. It's not really like a good 3-4 DE will again make a good 4-3 DE - except in Madden, where stupidity is the norm. If you look at FM series, you'd easily notice that there is no such thing as "overall" rating - it's all about how YOU utilize them.
I read somewhere that Madden was changing the way it rates players with less players being in the 70's and 80's.
someone needs to explain how Darren Sproles is an 85 overall and Leon is a 79. Leon had more rushing yds, averaged more ypc, caught more balls for more yards, is a better kick returner, yet Sproles is 6 points higher. I'm guessing the only answer is that Sproles got a lot of attention towards the end of this season.
There is definately some serious discrepancies in regards to player ratings on the Jets as well as all other teams RunLeonRun you brought up a great point. It just goes to show us all that players that garner more interest in the media have gotten better ratings. As for everyone talking about Brady not going down and Harris dropping far should just stop and realize that Brady has a proven track record as a SUPERSTAR in the NFL. It would be a shame if Brady would have dropped like Harris. With that said ( i cant believe i said defended a patriot but its a video game) EA is trying to make the game more realistic compared to the NFL. In giving superstars the ability to take over the game. I will for sure bump up a few of the Jets ratings. Revis for example should be rated as a top 3 CB. A 92 is a bit low for him. Here are ratings of other top CB's : Nnamdi Asomugha is a 99, Champ Bailey is a 96, Ashonte Samuel is a 95, Charles Woodson is a 93 and Cortland Finnegan is the same rating a 92. C'mon Woodson better than Revis????
