When a fan is overly optimistic, it's annoying because then you can't have a real conversation. And if it's not game day, conversations are all we have. A player, on the other hand, has everything to gain by feeling indestructible. Why shouldn't he believe that he and his team are destined for greatness? Where's the harm in it?
Loving the optimism...but all this is going to do right now is give opposing teams and their fans more ammunition...
WTF has Brick done to warrant that level of cockiness? I love the Jets like none other, but you can't say things of that magnitude until you prove you're gonna make it happen. Good thing to say, wrong person to say it.
To me, it sounds like he really believes in himself and this team from the bottom of his heart. That's not cockiness - that's confidence. More power to him.
I think D'Brick is really trying to say is that its the teams goal to win the Superbowl and that he expects the Jets to aim for nothing less. I mean how many teams this year will say the goal is to win the superbowl, but are really just aiming to win a certain number of games. I don't think this is cocky coming from a quiet guy like D'Brick, its really encouraging to see him start to speak out. Additionally, this team was also muzzled for three years and played with no passion at all. I don't think these guys are being cocky because the think they will just show up to games and win. They're saying these things because they believe in their ability. If fans on here are complaining that these players aren't thinking "realisticly" then the Same ol' Jets attitude is still prevailing.
Hahahah the NYJ are talking so much trash. I always support talking trash. This is kind of pushing it though.
Amen. Its amazing how scared this fanbase still is. They want SOJ to go away but at the same time they don't want to believe in the change. Let's put it this way, how would you like a super-athlete with an ego as big a boulder to think? Fans want them to think the same way as they do... "I guess we can get a wild card birth. Let's be pussies and not shock the world"
Hell yeah brick. im all for it. lets go baby lets get a lombardi. i highly doubt it but i still love the attitude.
I used to think that until a player from the league told me the bulletin board argument is widely acknowledged as one of the dumbest concepts in the league. These guys are professionals. They're plenty motivated already. If they need something like this to give them extra fire, they have no business being in the league.
Great point. I hope no one here is even remotely convinced we're a Super Bowl team at this point, but it's great to see that kind of faith from a player on the team you root for.
So having bulletin board material for other teams give them the edge? WHO CARES. Oh noes, that means the other team will be fired up and we can't beat them if they have extra motivation. Fuck that. We'll beat teams if we give 100% and everyone does their job and beats their single man on each individual play. Thats the way you go into games. Good for Brick and good for the team. You should go into every game thinking that if you do your job, you will win.
not trying to be a dick but these people are professionals, its not like a highschool team that a coach gets em all riled up for a big rivalry game. These people are PAYED to play, if thats not enough to get you up for a game your obviously in the wrong profession. Belicheck doesnt make bold statements like this and i think his strategy has been paying off
comparing the Jets to the Pats doesn't help anything. Comparing 90% of the NFL teams to the Pats doesn't do anything at all.
"24, 11 or fight!".... Revis conquering the "Oregon Territory" "Always?" Then, why's your moniker: "PLEASEwinSuperBowlJets?......why not: WeWillWinSuperBowlJets? And as for the Kellen Clements avatar, maybe: "PleaseStopThrowningINTS?" or, PleaseStopThrowing'DUCKS'toRevis?"
I agree, I feel so many Nfl teams try to copy the champions and it rarely ever works. We tryed the Patriot way, it failed miserably. I realize Mangini is no Bill Belicheck, but no former Pats coach could bring that success elsewhere either. We need to make our own path, something that is new and that the NFL hasn't seen a million times. BTW I love how I'm hearing that Ryan is also working with the Offense. I think he could really throw some difficult defensive looks at the O so they will be ready for the season. I think Rex can teach the O what the defense is thinking so they can be really prepared. Teaching the offense whats inside the defenseman's brain could be the ticket. Damn I'm ready for this season!
