True, I lost a little respect for the Vikings ownership condoning this Favre Me-Fest. However I don't blame them for being interested in trying to make their team better. I do blame one player for thinking he deserves more attention than any one team which is Favre.
No there isn't, and like I said, he's made a mockery of himself. Everyone is laughing at him, the media for choking down his dong again, and perhaps the Vikings for being the foolish other party. I just don't think he has made a mockery of the NFL. I could not care less what he does at this point. He just makes himself look like an idiot.
Why it bothers me: I have to see his face for weeks on end on Sports Center while anchors and "analysts" report non-news about his indecision and recount all of their fond memories of watching a drugged up media whore play football like he just learned about the game 3 days before taking the field. I'm sick of hearing everyone talk about how great of a QB he was. He was a gambler who got lucky a few too many times. Fuck him and fuck his legacy. As for his indecision specifically, how many times has he held the Packers hostage while he was deciding[read: waiting for off-season workouts to end so he can come in late during TC]? He's a selfish asshole, plain and simple. Remember the Javon Walker/Aaron Rodgers year? Walker was holding out for a new contract which he deserved and Favre ruined him with Green Bay's fan base by telling him to come in to camp in a press conference and accusing him of not being a team player. Meanwhile, the Packers draft Aaron Rodgers and Favre's exact sentiments were, "Why should I have to tutor him?". He doesn't want to work out with the team, he doesn't want to help his teammates, he just wants to win on his terms. Now he's ruining the the locker room for Tavaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfells. I don't care how much they suck, they've been working out with their team and putting their time in. They deserve a chance to fight for a starting job, not be benched because some guy wants to come in off the streets, despite being well past his prime and is likely going to break down at the end of the season but is still going to play because no one is man enough to take him off of the field when he's only hurting the team. He's a liar and a selfish ass. I was pissed when we traded for him and I was pissed when he went through his whole BS "I don't need an MRI"...six weeks later:"I think my elbow was bothering me at the end of the season BS." Fuck him sideways.
It doesn't really affect me either. I think many are misreading Glazer's words. He just says that a number of Vikings players think this will happen. It doesn't say Favre has said anything, and these players never claimed they spoke to him or have any inside info at all. It just says that they think it will go down. According to how Glazer heard them. And, just as importantly as not coming from Favre, it isn't coming from anyone in Viking FO either (meaning, anyone who could actually make it happen, or know that it will happen). Seriously, this is a non-story. Just player speculation amplified + crap made up by the true "media whores" in this, this time Jay Glazer and Peter King, to get on Dan Patrick. And I've no doubt Ed Werder an Chris Mortensen probalby jumped on the bandwagon by now. It's all just wild, baseless speculation. It does not affect me any more than it affects any of you. Now I'm not saying that there couldn't be something to it. I highly doubt Favre is 100% that he's done. I'm just thinking this is too soon, if anything. Believe it or not, I'm probably almost as tired of this will-he-or-won't-he shit as most of you are, and I was really hoping that Jay Glazer wouldn't have interrupted my vacation from it so quickly.
Junior only retired once, and even then he said he wasn't really retiring, his team (Chargers) was retiring him. He goes home after each season and checks his messages when he comes home from surfing. If BB calls, he'll come back for the 2nd half of the year.
i blame espn for having nothing better to report in july and august. when all you have is baseball its going to be hard to fill up 24 hours of sports reporting.
I'll concede that he brings some of the criticism on himself being indecisive, but I think that most of the "Favre Circus" is created by the media. Sure he knows there will be a circus when he does this shit, but that doesn't mean he calls press conferences to drum up the attention. The man is a legend and in my opinion has earned a bit of a pass on deciding where and when he plays. I really think a lot of the hate is people hating for the sake of hating something. Big deal if he's on sports center, you get other channels on your TV don't you? I'm still a Favre fan (obviously) and I haven't seen a lick of the Favre circus. All I know is what I've read on here. Why? Because I'm not forced to watch sports center.
They do the same thing on NFLN. But I agree with you, he hasn't done enough to garner the hatred that he gets.
If nothing else Favre knows how to create a media buzz and will sell a lot of tickets and merchandise for Minnesota.
Mark my word. Adrian Peterson is going to break the single season rushing record this year if Favre is healthy for 16 games.
